I-95 Lane Closures, Ramp Stoppages at Night Next Week for Construction in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA - Nighttime lane closures and periodic ramp stoppages will be in place on Interstate 95 next week at the Bridge Street and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges in Philadelphia for construction and related activities, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Weather permitting, the I-95 restrictions and locations are:
- Monday, January 4, and Tuesday, January 5, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic stoppages of up to fifteen minutes will occur on the ramp from northbound I-95 to Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange for removal of deck beams from an overhead ramp. If weather forces postponement of any night's activities, the beam removal may be rescheduled to Friday, January 8, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM;
- Monday, January 4, through Wednesday, January 6, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the northbound center and left lanes will be closed at the southern end of the Bridge Street Interchange, south of the existing three-lane traffic pattern, for soil borings;
- Monday, January 4, through Thursday, January 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the southbound center and left lane will be closed at the southern end of the Bridge Street Interchange, south of the existing three-lane traffic pattern, for soil borings; and
- Wednesday, January 6, and Thursday, January 7, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic stoppages of up to fifteen minutes will occur on the ramp from southbound I-95 to the Betsy Ross Bridge for removal of deck beams from an overhead ramp. If weather forces postponement of any night's activities, the beam removal may be extended to Friday, January 8, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Drivers are advised to remain alert for slowing traffic when approaching these work areas.
The beam removal is part of the ongoing ramp reconstruction at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange. The soil borings are part of advance engineering activities underway for upcoming reconstruction of I-95 at the Bridge Street Interchange.
Work on these projects will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.
