I-76 Ramps at 30th Street to Close Periodically at Night Next Week for Construction in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The ramp from Walnut Street to eastbound Interstate 76 and the ramp from the 30th Street Interchange to westbound I-76 in Philadelphia will be closed and detoured periodically but not concurrently on Monday, December 6, through Thursday, December 9, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for concrete pavement grinding, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists normally using the on-ramp will be directed west on Walnut Street, left on 38th Street, then left on Spruce Street to South Street and the on-ramp to eastbound I-76.

Westbound off-ramp traffic will be detoured east on Interstate 676, exit at 23rd Street, turn left on 22nd Street to the ramp to westbound I-676, then take the ramp to eastbound I-76 and the exit at 30th Street.

The concrete pavement grinding, which corrects uneven areas on the recently repaired ramps, is part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River and seven other nearby structures, including the westbound I-76 ramp to 30th Street and the Walnut Street on-ramp to eastbound I-76 at 30th Street. More information is available at the Chestnut Street Bridges project website.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
