I-95 Daytime Lane, Ramp Closures Next Week for Construction at the Girard Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Lane and ramp restrictions will be in place during the day next week on Interstate 95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia for construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Tuesday, February 8, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the northbound left lane will be closed between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges for median barrier installation; and
  • Wednesday, February 9, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the ramp from southbound Aramingo Avenue to southbound I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange will be closed for barrier removal and roadway striping. Traffic will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue, south on Delaware Avenue, west on Callowhill Street, south on 2nd Street, and east on Market Street to access the southbound I-95 on-ramp.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The work is part of the $315.7 million GR4 project currently underway through 2023 to replace the southbound I-95 viaduct between Palmer Street in Fishtown and Ann Street in Port Richmond, reconstruct and improve the southbound on and off-ramps at Girard Avenue, and rebuild the southbound I-95 pavement between Ann Street and Allegheny Avenue.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
