PennDOT to Reopen Eastbound County Line Road December 12 as Stage 4 Reconstruction Finishes in Horsham, Warrington Townships

King of Prussia, PA -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that County Line Road Stage 4 reconstruction between Park Road and Bradford Road in Horsham and Warrington townships will finish on Monday, December 12, allowing the roadway to reopen to eastbound traffic for the final stages of the three-mile, $11.2 million improvement project in Montgomery and Bucks counties.

With the completion of Stage 4 sometime on Monday, December 12, the eastbound County Line Road detour between Lower State Road and Easton Road (Route 611) will be lifted. Stage 4, originally expected to finish next spring, was completed ahead of schedule.

Westbound County Line Road motorists will continue to be detoured along Easton Road, Street Road and Lower State Road until the project's completion by 2026 or possibly earlier.

Stage 1 construction will follow Stage 4 and consist of shoulder widening and the milling and overlay of County Line Road between Kulp Road East and Fairmont Avenue. Also included in Stage 1 will be intersection improvements at Folly Road, Maggie Way, and the Bradford Green Drives. Stage 1 is expected to finish in mid-2023.

PennDOT's contractor has now completed two of the project's nine construction stages, including replacement of a bridge over the Little Neshaminy Creek. County Line Road is being rebuilt to provide uniform, 11-foot-wide travel lanes and five-foot shoulders between Kulp Road and Easton Road (Route 611).

Westbound County Line Road will continue to be detoured during the remaining stages (Stages 1, 2 and 5 through 9) of the project.

Construction began in spring 2021, closing County Line Road to through traffic. The project's original staging schedule was revised to advance the replacement of the bridge over the Little Neshaminy Creek bridge that was damaged in a storm in late summer 2021

James D. Morrissey, Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

PennDOT - District 6 News: PennDOT Begins U.S. 13 South Bridge Replacement over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

An update has been published to District 6 News on the PennDOT website. Please see below for details.

PennDOT - District 6 News

PennDOT Begins U.S. 13 South Bridge Replacement over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that preliminary construction activities will get underway next week on a project to replace the bridge carrying the southbound U.S. 13/Hunting Park Avenue ramp over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.

Under this contract, PennDOT will remove the existing single-span, steel plate girder bridge, and replace the structure with a single-span, prestressed concrete bridge that will provide additional vertical clearance.

The scope of work also includes constructing retaining wall extensions on the approaches of the new bridge; performing full depth paving; and installing and constructing new sidewalk, ADA curb ramps, a new traffic signal, highway lighting, guiderail and pavement markings.

On Monday, December 5, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, sidewalk closures and a lane closure if needed will be in place on Wyoming Avenue between Broad Street (Route 611) and Old York Road for advanced construction operations to improve Wyoming Avenue for future detour use beginning in early 2023.

Due to the nature of the repairs, once bridge work begins, the ramp will be closed during construction and a traffic detour will be utilized using Wyoming Avenue and Broad Street (Route 611). PennDOT's contractor will also implement nighttime travel restrictions underneath the bridge on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) that will reduce the highway to a single lane in each direction.

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J., is the general contractor on the $7.79 million project, which is financed with 100% federal funds. The entire project is expected to finish in early 2024.

U.S. 1 Bridge Construction Nearing Completion in Middletown Township, Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will continue next week on the nearly-completed new northbound U.S. 1 bridge over Old Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. 1) and adjacent rail lines in Middletown Township, Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Following removal of the underside materials, PennDOT's contractor will begin preparations to shift northbound and southbound U.S. 1 traffic onto the new bridge and begin work to build the adjacent southbound structure after the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

PennDOT is reconstructing and improving U.S. 1 and replacing several bridges from the PA Turnpike (Interstate 276) to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 interchange in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of the $111.5 million Section RC2 project that is scheduled to finish in mid-2026. Construction on the $95 million Section RC1 project between the PA Turnpike and Old Lincoln Highway will finish in December.
