U.S. 422 West Lane Closure for Bridge Beam Setting

The right lane on westbound U.S. 422 will be closed between the Sanatoga
and
Route 724 interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, for
the
placement of concrete beams on the new bridge being built over the
Schuylkill
River, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.
Crews will work Monday, September 12, through Friday, September 16, from
7:00
AM to 1:00 PM. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling
through
the area as backups may occur when westbound U.S. 422 is reduced to one
lane
during this time.
The upcoming operations are part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to
rebuild
1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges, and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and
Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled
to
finish in October 2018.
Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;

lane restrictions are scheduled on six state highways in the Philadelphia
region next week for the milling and resurfacing.
Weather permitting, the resurfacing schedule is:
• On Wednesday, September 7, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane closures are
scheduled on High Street between Grosstown Road and Jay Street in West
Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.
This state highway is being resurfaced under a resurfacing contract worth
$6.3
million. The contract are financed with 100 percent state funds.
In addition:

Pike) in Montgomery County, for utility relocation and excavation.
Weather permitting, the work schedule is:
• On Tuesday, September 6, through September 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
lane
restrictions are scheduled on Meyers Road between Seitz Road and Mill Road
in
Perkiomen Township; and
• On Tuesday, September 6, through September 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,

restrictions are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Squirrel
Hill
Road and Perkiomen Creek Road in Skippack Township.
This preliminary work is part of PennDOT's $11 million project to improve
travel and safety at the intersections of Plank Road/Route 29 (Gravel
Pike)/Otts Road and Meyers Road/Seitz Road/Township Line Road in Skippack,
Perkiomen and Limerick townships, Montgomery County.
The improvements include widening the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack

to align with Plank Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike) to create a four-leg
intersection; adding left turn lanes on Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank
