Mosquito Spraying Scheduled in Select Areas of Upper Merion Township on August 26

The Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Office of Public Health will conduct mosquito spraying in select areas of Upper Merion Township after West Nile Virus was detected in mosquito samples collected in the area.

The treatment area will include Heuser Park, a portion of the Schuylkill River West Trail, and township-adjacent open space.

Mosquito Spraying Details:

• Date: Wednesday, August 26, 2026
  
• Heuser Park Closure: 7:30 PM and reopening the following morning
  
• Spraying Time: Approximately 8:15 PM to 11:00 PM
  
• Rain Date: Thursday, August 27, 2026

During these events, any residents within the spray area should consider remaining indoors, closing windows, and turning off ventilation systems that draw in outside air for the duration of the spray plus 30 minutes afterward.

The contractor is expected to complete the paving program Wednesday, August 12. To allow the new pavement to be properly sealed, all vehicles must be removed from the affected roadways during work hours. Vehicles cannot remain on the street during sealing operations. If you will need access to your vehicle while this work is taking place, please park on another street outside the work area before work begins. Any vehicles remaining on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Residents who received temporary parking permits may continue to use them through the completion of the paving program. These permits remain valid on nearby streets, including permit-restricted streets, as previously communicated.

Temporary road closures are expected during paving to allow the road to cure. Please be mindful of all signage indicating road closures and changes to traffic patterns.

Vehicles must be removed from affected streets each day before the time posted by the contractor. Any vehicle remaining within the work zone during active construction hours will be subject to towing at the owner's expense.

All properties directly impacted by the paving program have received temporary parking permits for use during construction. These permits allow residents to park on nearby streets, including permit-restricted streets, even if they do not currently have a residential parking permit. Temporary permits are not valid at metered parking spaces. Residents who already have a valid parking permit may continue to park on permit-restricted streets without displaying a temporary permit.

We have received confirmation from the contractor that the Borough's 2026 paving program will begin on Monday, August 3, weather permitting.

The contractor will post advance notice signs on all affected roadways by end of day Friday, July 31. Residents and motorists are asked to carefully observe all posted signage and comply with any temporary parking restrictions or traffic controls so the work can be completed safely and efficiently.

The project is expected to take approximately one week, although the schedule remains weather-dependent and may change if conditions require.

Residents who received temporary parking passes specifically for the paving program should note that those passes will continue to be honored throughout the revised construction schedule.

ReadyMontco - Hatboro- 33rd Annual Moonlight Memories Car Show Alert

On Saturday July 25, 2026, the Hatboro Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Moonlight Memories Car Show on York Road. In preparation for the car show, York Road will be closed from County Line Road to Horsham Road beginning at 11:30 AM. York Road is anticipated to reopen at approximately 11 PM.

All vehicles must be removed from York Road prior to 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Any vehicles remaining on York Road after 11:30 AM are subject to towing at the owners’ expense.

Residents who reside on York Road and Business Owners with storefronts on York Road should make sure their vehicles are relocated prior to 11:30 AM on July 25th. Businesses and Apartments with parking lots or entrances on York Road may not be able to travel on York Road from their residence / business via vehicle once the closure begins. If you need to leave during the closure for an emergency, please make plans to relocate your vehicle prior to 11:30 AM on the 25th. Likewise, after York Road closes at 11:30 AM, you may not be able gain access to your residence/business via car. Please make plans in advance if you anticipate needing to come or go from your residence or business by vehicle during this time.

The Hatboro Police Department and Emergency Management Department are also enacting temporary parking restrictions on multiple streets and areas throughout the Borough. Below is information regarding road closures and parking restrictions prior to and during the event. Please drive with caution!!

YORK ROAD

York Road will be closed to vehicle traffic from Horsham Road to County Line Road beginning at 1130 am until approximately 11 PM.
Cross Traffic on York Road will be permitted at Montgomery Avenue and Lehman Avenue.

TRAFFIC DETOURS

Eastbound Traffic on W Moreland Avenue will be detoured north on Chester Avenue to Montgomery Avenue or south on Chester Avenue to Lehman (See website for Graphic)
Eastbound Traffic on West Monument Avenue will be detoured South on Chester Avenue. Detoured traffic can turn left onto Montgomery Avenue to cross York Road or continue south to Lehman Avenue to cross York Road.

TEMPORARY NO PARKING

Temporary no parking will be in place on:
West Monument Avenue (Both Sides)
N Chester Avenue
S Chester Avenue
West Lehman Avenue between S Chester and York (both sides)
West Lehman Avenue from York to Drexel (Both Sides)
Drexel Road from W. Lehman to Rorer (Both Sides)
Rorer Avenue from Drexel to Fulmore (Both Sides)
Temporary No parking will be in place on Montgomery Avenue between N Chester Avenue and York Road.

The Hatboro Public Works Department and the Hatboro Police Department are also enacting a temporary No Parking restriction in the Moreland & Orchard Shopper’s Lot. This closure will allow first responders and emergency personnel to utilize the lot for the event. As a result, the Moreland & Orchard Shopper’s lot located on W. Moreland Avenue will be closed beginning at 9 PM on Friday, July 24th and will remain closed until 11 PM on Saturday, July 25th. All vehicles must be removed from the Moreland & Orchard parking lot before 9 PM on Friday, July 24th. This includes persons who have a Borough issued parking permit for a reserved spot in the Moreland and Orchard lot.
Any vehicles illegally parked along the detour route and no parking areas will be towed.

PARKING INFORMATION: **Public parking is available at the following municipal parking lots**

East Moreland Avenue Lot: This parking lot is accessible off East Moreland Avenue.
Bank Street Lot: This parking lot is accessible off West Lehman Avenue.
Parking is also available on neighboring streets (where permitted) but may be limited on the day of the event.

AIR QUALITY HEALTH ALERT

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has declared a statewide Code Purple Air Quality Action Day for Particle Pollution for Friday, July 17, 2026, for fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Wildfire smoke continues to impact Pennsylvania from Ontario, Canada and Minnesota, significantly deteriorating the air quality across Commonwealth.

Code Purple air quality is classified as very unhealthy for everyone. All people should limit or avoid outdoor activities. Pets and other animals should be kept indoors to the extent possible.

Guidance on Limiting Exposure
• Everyone: Limit outdoor physical activity and go indoors to cleaner air if experiencing symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath.
• Sensitive Groups: Individuals with chronic conditions such as heart and lung disease, older adults, children and teenagers, pregnant women, and people with limited ability to reduce exposures to outdoor air should avoid all physical activity outdoors.
• Keep indoor air safe by closing windows. If you have air conditioning and your system allows it, consider using the indoor recirculating function and/or installing a high efficiency filter. If you do not have air conditioning, staying inside with windows closed may be dangerous in hot weather. If you are hot, go someplace with air conditioning. Check 211 (pa211.org) to find a cooling center near you.
• Be aware that an N95 mask can provide some protection; however, surgical and cloth masks will not provide protection due to the size of the pollution particles.

If you are experiencing severe shortness of breath or chest tightness, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you are experiencing minor or controllable symptoms, consider contacting your health care provider.

What to Expect in the Days Ahead
According to AirNow.gov, smoke levels will continue to be intense Friday, with concentrations rising to code PURPLE (Very Unhealthy) category. High moderate ozone is again likely during the afternoon. At this time, air quality is expected to improve on Saturday, but remain unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Ways to Reduce Air Pollution
• Limit the use of fire pits.
• Conserve electricity by setting air conditioning to a higher temperature.
• Combine errands to reduce vehicle trips.
• Limit engine idling.
• Refuel cars and trucks after dusk.
• Limit oil-based cooking, such as grilling or frying food.

Wildfire smoke continues to impact Pennsylvania from Ontario, Canada and Minnesota, significantly deteriorating the air quality across Commonwealth.

Code Purple air quality is classified as very unhealthy for everyone. All people should limit or avoid outdoor activities. Pets and other animals should be kept indoors to the extent possible.

Guidance on Limiting Exposure
• Everyone: Limit outdoor physical activity and go indoors to cleaner air if experiencing symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath.
• Sensitive Groups: Individuals with chronic conditions such as heart and lung disease, older adults, children and teenagers, pregnant women, and people with limited ability to reduce exposures to outdoor air should avoid all physical activity outdoors.
• Keep indoor air safe by closing windows. If you have air conditioning and your system allows it, consider using the indoor recirculating function and/or installing a high efficiency filter. If you do not have air conditioning, staying inside with windows closed may be dangerous in hot weather. If you are hot, go someplace with air conditioning. Check 211 (pa211.org) to find a cooling center near you.

ReadyMontco - Narberth Alert

Narberth Borough Hall will be open today from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the large room on the second floor (multi-purpose room) for residents who may still be without power and need a place to cool down and charge devices. Narberth Borough Hall is located at 100 Conway Ave. 

Please continue to use caution throughout the Borough, especially around downed power lines, and avoid any damaged areas. Work continued overnight to clear trees from wires so that PECO crews can access affected areas and begin repairs. Restoration efforts will take time, but work is ongoing around the clock.

Crews are also continuing to remove downed trees from roadways to improve safety and access throughout the community.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and support of one another. We are grateful for everyone working to help Narberth recover safely.

Narberth Borough has experienced a severe storm, resulting in flooding, downed trees, and hazardous travel conditions. Some roadways may be impassable, and residents are urged to use caution if travel is necessary.

If traveling please be alert for road closure signs and traffic advisories. Never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. Stay away from downed utility wires, and report any hazardous conditions to the appropriate authorities.

Borough emergency personnel and our Public Works Department are actively monitoring conditions and responding to incidents. We also encourage residents to check on neighbors as many are without power.

**IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION FOR SCHOOL ROAD**

Starting Thursday July 16th, School Road will be closed at Skippack Pike for what we hope will only be 4 weeks. The daily closure will be from 9am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. Utility companies will be conducting work near this intersection. Residents on School Road will have access to their driveways at all times; except if there is work right in front of your driveway, in which case it would be a temporary shutdown. Detour signs will be in place for commuters that use School Rd. Please use DeKalb Pike, Morris Road, and Skippack Pike to navigate around the School Road closure during the closure times. Lastly, the Township will be in direct communication with the contractors. We will provide updates on the anticipated completion date.
