the
right lane and shoulder will close on eastbound and westbound U.S. 422
between
the U.S. 202 and First Avenue interchanges, for conduit installation.
Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel on U.S. 422
during
this operation because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's work schedule
is

The operations are part of PennDOT's $97.4 million project to build new,
wider
structures to improve travel on U.S. 422 at its crossings over the

interchanges.
PennDOT began construction on this transportation improvement project in
February 2016 and the project is scheduled to finish in May 2020. Without
the
passage of Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan, construction on this
project would not have begun before 2018.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20

PennDOT, Police, Safety Partners Launch ‘Operation Safe Holiday’ Campaign Across Southeast Pennsylvania
PennDOT, Police, Safety Partners Launch 'Operation Safe Holiday' Campaign
Across Southeast Pennsylvania
12/1/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Chester County
District Attorney, the West Goshen Police Department, Main Line Health's
Paoli
Hospital, AAA Mid-Atlantic and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital held a news
conference
today at Paoli Hospital in Chester County, to announce regional
impaired-driving enforcement as part of 'Operation Safe Holiday,' a
campaign
encouraging safe driving through the holiday season.
Police discussed the use of sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and
regular
traffic safety patrols to crack down on motorists who are driving while
impaired. The Pennsylvania State Police and hundreds of municipal police
departments statewide partner with PennDOT during "Operation Safe Holiday"
to
increase traffic safety enforcement through the New Year's holiday.
The operations are part of the Pennsylvania High Visibility Enforcement
Program
and is funded partly by PennDOT's statewide distribution of federal funds
from
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
PennDOT reports that the holiday season continues to be the leading time
period
for traffic crashes. In 2015, there were 3,741 crashes and 31 fatalities
statewide during the Christmas and New Year travel periods. Of those, 524
crashes and 10 fatalities were impaired-driving related.
PennDOT encourages motorists to always plan ahead by either designating a
sober
driver or arranging for alternate transportation.

County Line Road Improvement Project Scheduled to Begin in Bucks and Montgomery Co
County Line Road Improvement Project Scheduled to Begin in Bucks and
Montgomery Co
12/1/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, December 13, on a $14.7 million
project to reconstruct, widen and improve 1.4 miles of County Line Road
between
Stump Road and Kulp Road in Warrington Township, Bucks County, and Horsham
and
Montgomery townships, Montgomery County.
This transportation improvement project will enhance travel on County Line
Road
by providing additional capacity for travelers by extending the existing
five-lane pattern to the intersection with Kulp Road.
On Tuesday, December 13, through mid-October 2017, Route 152 (Limekiln
Pike)
will be closed between County Line Road and Westminster Drive while
PennDOT's
contractor realigns the Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) intersections with Lower
State Road and County Line Road; constructs new turn lanes; and upgrades
existing traffic signals. Traffic will be detoured over Lower State Road
and
County Line Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction
area.
PennDOT's contractor is widening County Line Road to accommodate two
11-foot
travel lanes in each direction, an 11-foot center turn lane, and two
five-foot
shoulders. This widened stretch of County Line Road will tie into the
recently
widened section at Stump Road, and will taper back to two lanes near Kulp
Road.
Additional improvements include the installation of four sound walls on
County
Line Road in the vicinity of the intersections at Kingston Way, Kenas Road,
Kulp Road and Route 152 (Limekiln Pike).
James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the
$14,793,565 contract that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds. Construction on the entire project is expected to finish in
September 2018.
