Stoney Hill Road/Sugan Road Closure Weekdays for Base Repair in Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – Stoney Hill Road/Sugan Road is scheduled to close weekdays between Aquetong Road and Route 179 (Bridge Street) in Solebury Township and New Hope Borough, Bucks County, on Monday, September 10, through Friday, September 21, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for base repair, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the weekday closure, Stoney Hill Road/Sugan Road motorists will be detoured over U.S. 202 (Lower York Road), Route 179 (Bridge Street) and Aquetong Road.

Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area. The schedule is weather dependent.

King of Prussia, PA – Southbound Interstate 476 motorists will encounter a left lane closure between the County Line Road overpass and the U.S. 30 Interchange in Radnor Township, Delaware County, on Monday, September 10, through Friday, September 14, from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning for shoulder rehabilitation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.

 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns and backups will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT to Preform Bridge Cleanings on Several State Highways in Philadelphia

​King of Prussia, PA –  Motorists will encounter overnight intermittent travel restrictions on several state highways in Philadelphia beginning Monday, September 10, through Wednesday, September 26, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, for bridge cleaning, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The roadways include:

• Interstate 95 North and South;
• Interstate 676 East and West;
• On the ramp from eastbound I-676 to I-95 north;
• Route 3 (Chestnut Street);
• Market Street;
• 11th Street;
• 15th Street;
• 16th Street; and
• 34th Street.

Crews will restrict travel lanes on these state highways to pressure wash and clean bridges.

Motorists are advised to be alert of this moving operation and to expect intermittent lane closures and possible slowdowns when driving near work crews. All activities are weather dependent.

Under this regional improvement project, PennDOT is cleaning bridges in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. The project is expected to be completed in June 2019.

Titan Industrial Services, Inc., of Baltimore, Md. is the general contractor on the $2,440,000 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

I-95 Lane Closures Thursday Night Ahead of Southbound Reconstruction at Girard Avenue in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Motorists using northbound and southbound Interstate 95 and eastbound Interstate 676 will encounter periodic right and left lane closures Thursday night, September 6, as crews place signs for the $311.6 million southbound reconstruction at the Girard Avenue Interchange that is scheduled to begin with a traffic shift later this month, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

From 9:00 PM Thursday, September 6, to 5:00 AM Friday, September 7, alternating northbound and southbound lane closures will be in place on I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and I-676 interchanges, and on eastbound I-676 between the 8th Street and I-95 interchanges.

The traffic shift planned over the weekend of September 21-23 will move three lanes of I-95 southbound traffic onto the rebuilt northbound lanes beginning north of the Allegheny Avenue Interchange. With a temporary barrier separating the six lanes of northbound and southbound I-95 vehicles, southbound traffic will remain on northbound side through the Girard Avenue Interchange, returning to the southbound side south of the interchange.

The southbound I-95 ramp to Girard Avenue will remain open until mid-2019, when it will close for replacement. The off-ramp will be accessible by an exit-only lane that will be maintained on the southbound side through the work area. The on-ramp to southbound I-95 at Girard Avenue will remain open for the duration of southbound reconstruction. 

Following the shift, crews will begin demolition and reconstruction of the southbound viaduct starting at Palmer Street and proceeding north to Ann Street. Replacement of the southbound viaduct, along with reconstruction of the southbound pavement between Allegheny Avenue and Ann Street and reconstruction of the southbound on-off ramps at Girard Avenue, are expected to take about four years to complete.

The start of southbound reconstruction will mark the substantial completion of more than three years of work on the $212 million contract (GR3) to replace the northbound viaduct between Palmer and Ann streets; reconstruct the northbound lanes from Ann Street to Allegheny Avenue; and rebuild the northbound interchange at Girard Avenue. 

Including the contract to reconstruct the southbound lanes (GR4), PennDOT has invested more than $662 million under five contracts (GR0, GR1, GR2, GR3, GR4) since 2009 to reconstruct and improve I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange. Two final contracts to reconstruct northbound and southbound I-95 between Frankford Avenue and the ramps to I-676 remain in design and are scheduled for construction to start in 2021 (GR6) and 2024 (GR5).

King of Prussia, PA – Texas Eastern Transmission is planning lane restrictions with flagging on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) from Crestline Drive to just east of U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) in Whitpain Township, Montgomery County on Thursday, September 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for utility relocation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. All activities are weather dependent. 

Texas Eastern Transmission, LP will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
