Wolf Administration Announces Completion of Route 282 (Creek Road) Bridge over Brandywine Creek in Wallace Township

​King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today the opening of the Route 282 (Creek Road) Bridge over Brandywine Creek in Wallace Township, Chester County, following the completion of a bridge replacement project.

"The replacement of the Route 282 Bridge is vital to Chester County's infrastructure," Governor Tom Wolf said. "The new structure will help maintain our vast transportation network and serve the area well into the future."

PennDOT's contractor replaced the existing structure, which was built in 1928, with a single span, pre-stressed, concrete bulb-tee bridge and performed other miscellaneous construction, including guide rail repair and drainage system improvements. The new structure is 32 feet wide and 52 feet long and includes five-foot shoulders.

Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, PA, is the general contractor on this $1,319,779 bridge replacement project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.

PennDOT Reopens the Whitford Road Bridge over Valley Creek in West Whiteland Township, Chester County

​King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has reopened the bridge carrying Whitford Road over Valley Creek in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, following the completion of a rehabilitation project.

PennDOT's contractor replaced the existing superstructure, installed new parapets and bridge deck, performed concrete spall repairs, repaired guiderail, and paved bridge approaches.
 
Built in 1967, the single-span box beam bridge is 52 feet long and 38 feet wide. The structure carries an average of 6,862 vehicles a day.

The Whitford Road bridge is one of ten structures in Chester and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is repairing under a $9.8 million project financed by Act 89, the state's transportation plan.

Structures completed under this project include:

• Boot Road over Route 100 in West Whiteland Township, Chester County;
• Main Street over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Limerick Township, Montgomery County;
• Route 611 over Pennypack Creek in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County;
• Route 611 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County;
• Old Lancaster Road over Amtrak in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County
• Ross Fording Road over Octoraro Creek in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County;
• Quakertown Road over Macoby Creek in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County; and
• Route 63 (Welsh Road) over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland townships, Montgomery County.

The other bridge in this rehabilitation project include:

• Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) over CSX Railroad in Philadelphia.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on this bridge improvement project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.

PennDOT Completes Major Construction to Replace Route 452 (Market Street) Bridge over Amtrak/SEPTA in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA –  The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened the bridge carrying the Route 452 (Market Street) over Amtrak and SEPTA railroad tracks in Marcus Hook Borough and Lower Chichester Township, Delaware County, marking the end of major construction on this improvement project.

Work will continue through April 2020 to construct and improve pedestrian access to SEPTA facilities. During these operations, there may be periodic lane restrictions on the bridge, but no full closures are planned.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT's contractor replaced the 17-span reinforced concrete T-beam bridge with a new four-span, continuous prestressed box beam bridge. The new bridge is 343 feet long, 40 feet wide and was constructed on a new alignment and widened to meet current design standards. The bridge approaches were also regraded and resurfaced to enhance travel and safety.

Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, Chester County, is the general contractor on the $21,392,398 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

PennDOT to Repair and Resurface More Than 12 State Highways Across the Philadelphia Region

​King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter lane restrictions on several state highways across the Philadelphia region for resurfacing operations as a part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highway in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule and locations are:

Bucks County

• Tuesday, November 5, through Friday, November 22, weekdays, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, road closure is scheduled on Durham Road between Route 212 and County Line Road in Durham Township for milling and paving operations. During the closure, Durham Road motorists will be directed to use Route 212, Route 611 (Easton Road), and Coffeetown Road.

Delaware County

• Sunday, November 3, through Friday, November 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Eagle Road between Township Line Road and Earlington Road in Haverford Township for milling operations and manhole adjustments;
• Monday, November 4, and Tuesday, November 5, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Brintons Bridge Road/Dilworthtown Road between Birmingham Road and Westtown Thornton Road in Thornbury Township for milling operations; and
• Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday November 7, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Dilworthtown Road between Westtown Thornton Road and Chester County Line in Thornbury Township for milling operations and base repair.

Montgomery County

• Sunday, November 3, through Tuesday, November 5, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Main Street between Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Forrest Avenue in West Norriton Township for milling operations;

• Tuesday, November 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane restriction is scheduled on Collegeville Road between Creamery Road and Route 73 (Skippack Pike) in Skippack Township for a milling operation;
• Friday, November 8, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a lane restriction is scheduled on Route 29 (Gravel Pike) between Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Plank Road in Perkiomen Township for a paving operation; and
• Saturday, November 9, from 9:00 Am to 3:00 PM, a lane restriction is scheduled on Arch Road between Renel Road and Germantown Pike in Plymouth Township for a paving operation.

Philadelphia County

• Monday, November 4, through Friday, November 8, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled at the Bustleton Avenue and Red Lion Road intersection for milling and paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

King of Prussia, PA – WP Bristol, LLC is planning a lane closure on Route 413 (Veterans Highway) between Ford Road and Old Rodgers Road in Bristol Township, Bucks County beginning Thursday, November 7 for center median construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. Weather permitting, the lane closure will be in place Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through Thursday, November 21.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and slowdowns will occur.

WP Bristol, LLC will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

24 State Highways Remain Closed Due to Downed Trees, Utility Lines Across Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – Twenty-four state highways remain closed today in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties due to downed trees and utility lines caused by severe weather Thursday night, October 31, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

PennDOT tree and utility contractors are working as quickly as possible to safely reopen the roadways to motorists. The following state highways are closed:

Bucks County

• Route 132 (Street Road) between York Road and Norristown Road in Warminster Township;
• Route 263 (Upper York Road) between Aquetong Road and Creamery Road in Solebury Township;
• Route 611 North (Easton Road) between Georges Lane and Hilltop Lane in Warrington Township;
• Phillips Mill Road/Mechanicsville Road between Sugan Road and Comfort Road in Solebury Township;
• Swamp Road between Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) and Worthington Mill Road in Wrightstown Township;
• Pineville Road between Buckmanville Road and Route 232 (Windy Bush Road)/Pine Lane in Upper Makefield and Wrightstown townships;
• Wrightstown Road/Worthington Mill Road between Swamp Road and Durham Road in Wrightstown Township; and
• Stoopville Road between Durham Road and Eagle Road in Wrightstown and Newtown townships.

Local detours have been posted for the road closures. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the closures because backups and delays will occur.
