I-95 South, Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) Lane Closures Next Week for Guide Rail Repair in Bucks and Philadelphia Counties

​King of Prussia, PA – Left lane closures are scheduled on southbound Interstate 95 and Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) in Bucks and Philadelphia counties on Wednesday, December 11, through Friday, December 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in Bucks County, for guide rail repairs, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:

• Southbound I-95 between Route 413 and Academy Road interchanges in Bristol and Bensalem townships, Bucks County; and
• Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) between Knights Road and I-95 in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

I-95, I-676 Lane Closures Next Week for Inspection Operations in Philadelphia

​King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 and Interstate 676 in Philadelphia from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for inspection operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, December 9, through Wednesday, December 11, on northbound I-95 between Route 291 and Broad Street interchanges, for bridge inspections;
• Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12, on southbound I-95 between Broad Street and Enterprise Avenue interchanges for bridge inspections; and
• Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12, on eastbound I-676 between 16th Street and 8th Street for overhead sign inspections.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to ensure the safety and overall condition of their bridges and maintain other structures.

Pennsylvania Turnpike to Close Creamery Road Next Week for Bridge Demolition in Franconia Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is planning to close Creamery Road between Allentown Road and Freed Road in Franconia Township, Montgomery County on Wednesday, December 11, through Friday, December 13, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for bridge demolition, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

During construction, Creamery Road motorists will be directed to use Allentown Road and Morwood Road. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the construction area because backups and delays will occur.  All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for Bridge Replacement in Chester County

​King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) between Sugars Bridge Road and Valley Creek Road in East Bradford and West Bradford townships, Chester County, on Monday, December 9, through Friday, December 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for paving operations under a project to replace the bridge carrying U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) over the east branch of Brandywine Creek, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. The schedule is weather dependent.

This project was driven by the need to replace the existing steel beam bridge that was built in 1929 and is currently listed in poor condition.

The new two-span, concrete bridge structure is being constructed downstream of the existing crossing on a new alignment extending from the intersection of U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) and Sugars Bridge Road to the intersection of U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) and Skelp Level Road. Traffic is now running in both directions on the new structure.

Operations began in November 2018 and the entire project is expected to be completed in spring of 2020.

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, PA is the general contractor on the $5,859,555 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.

I-76 West Lane Closure Saturday, Next Week for Viaduct Rehabilitation in Center City Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Travel restrictions will be in place this Saturday morning and at night next week on westbound Interstate 76 between the South Street and Interstate 676 interchanges in Center City Philadelphia for construction to rehabilitate two viaducts, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

Weather permitting, the work schedule is:

• Saturday, December 7, from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM, westbound I-76 will be reduced to one lane between the South Street and 30th Street exits for concrete placement under the I-76 viaduct;
• Monday, December 9, through Thursday, December 12, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, westbound I-76 will be reduced to one lane between the South Street and Interstate 676 interchanges for removal of a section of the debris shield under the Schuylkill Avenue viaduct;
• Monday, December 9, through Thursday, December 12, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the westbound I-76 ramp to 30th Street will be closed. Ramp traffic will be detoured west on I-76 to eastbound Interstate 676, exit at 23rd Street, turn left on 23rd Street, then left on the ramp to westbound I-676, back to eastbound I-76 to the ramp to 30th Street; and
• Monday, December 9 through Friday, December 13, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, the right deceleration lane on westbound I-76 approaching the ramp to 30th Street will be closed periodically for concrete placement under the I-76 viaduct.

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route or allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. 

Next week's scheduled lane closures of westbound I-76 may be adjusted to start later than 11 PM if necessary to accommodate motorists leaving the sports complex in South Philadelphia.

PennDOT is repairing and resurfacing the I-76 viaduct under a $39.8 million contract that also includes repairs to the three-span I-76 structure over Route 23 (Conshohocken State Road) in West Conshohocken Borough, just east of the Interstate 476/Conshohocken Interchange in Montgomery County. Repairs to the Schuylkill Avenue viaduct are part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River — which is closed until August 2020 for repairs — and eight other nearby structures, including those carrying Schuylkill Avenue over I-76 between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street, and between Chestnut Street and Market Street. U.S. 1, Street Road (Route 132) Lane Closures at Night Next Week for Construction in Bensalem Township

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures will be in place at night next week on U.S. 1 and  Street Road (Route 132), and U.S. 1 northbound ramps to and from the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) will be closed Sunday and Monday nights for bridge and roadway construction activities on a project to reconstruct, widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of the highway in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, December 8, and Monday, December 9, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Bensalem Interchange to northbound U.S. 1, and the ramp from northbound U.S. 1 to the Turnpike's Bensalem Interchange will be closed for removal of underside shielding on the new U.S. 1 bridge over the ramp. During the Turnpike ramp closures the following detours will be in place:
• Northbound U.S. 1 motorists will be directed to the Neshaminy Exit, turn left on Rockhill Drive, turn right on the ramp to southbound U.S. 1, then right on the ramp to the Turnpike Toll Plaza; and
• Turnpike motorists exiting at Bensalem and heading for northbound U.S. 1 will be directed to the ramp to southbound U.S. 1, turn right onto the ramp to eastbound Street Road (Route 132), then turn right on the ramp to northbound U.S.

• Sunday, December 8, through Friday, December 13, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, northbound or southbound single lane closures will be in place periodically on U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Old Lincoln Highway; and
• Sunday, December 8, through Friday, December 13, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, eastbound or westbound single lane closures will be in place periodically on Street Road (Route 132) between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way. 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather permitting.

The work is part of a corridor improvement project to rebuild and widen U.S. 1; replace aging bridges; and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough. King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Fox Street and 17th Street in Philadelphia on Monday, December 9, through Friday, December 13, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for construction activities under a project to rehabilitate the half-mile-long Wayne Junction Viaduct which carries the expressway over SEPTA tracks, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) through the work areas because slowdowns and backups will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled for the following night.

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $89,955,398 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in late 2022. For more information, visit us1wav.com.
