PECO to Close Darby Road for Utility Improvement in Tredyffrin Township

King of Prussia, PA – PECO Energy plans to close Darby Road between U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and Devon Road in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, beginning Wednesday, July 13, for utility construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The closure will be in place Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through Friday, September 30.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue), Valley Road, and Devon Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PECO Energy will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com or downloading the 511PA mobile application. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures with flagging are scheduled on Route 10 (Limestone Road) between Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) and the Oxford Borough line in West Fallowfield, Upper Oxford, and Lower Oxford townships, Chester County, beginning Monday, July 11, for base repair, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The lane closures will remain in place weekdays, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, through late July.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Broad Street (Route 611) to Close for Local Safety Improvement Project in South Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Broad Street (Route 611) will be closed and detoured between Crescent Drive and Intrepid Avenue in Philadelphia beginning at 7:00 AM on Monday, July 25, under a local project to improve travel and safety, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The closure will be in place 24/7 through August 2023.

During the closure, Broad Street (Route 611) motorists will be directed to use League Island Boulevard and Kitty Hawk Avenue. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this City of Philadelphia project, the contractor will demolish and replace the existing quay wall, located in the Navy Yard along Broad Street, and replace it with an anchored steel sheet pile bulkhead. As a result of the construction activities, the section of Broad Street (Route 611) will be reconstructed, and the timber deck structure that supports the roadway will be replaced. The quay wall will be replaced in-kind utilizing salvaged stone from the existing wall. The wall is approximately 700 feet long. Pedestrian access to the wall is currently restricted due to safety concerns.

An existing large stormwater outfall will also be replaced under this project. The location and size of this outfall will not be changed; however, a tide gate will be added. Streetscape services will also be used to enhance the experience for the traveling public, whether they are traveling by vehicle or bicycle.

I-95, I-76, I-476 Among State Highways Restricted Next Week for Construction Activities in Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia PA – Interstate 95, Interstate 76, and Interstate 476 are among state highways restricted next week in Philadelphia, Delaware, and Montgomery counties for construction activities, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

Philadelphia

Monday, July 11, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on northbound I-95 at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange for bridge inspection;
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the eastbound Route 291 and the I-76/Walt Whitman Bridge interchanges in Tinicum Township, Delaware County and Philadelphia for guiderail installation;
Tuesday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 at the Girard Avenue Interchange for bridge inspection; and
Wednesday, July 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a partial lane closure is schedule on the westbound I-76 ramp to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) for bridge inspection.

Delaware County

Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-476 between the Media/Swarthmore and the Interstate 276 interchanges in Nether Providence, Springfield, Marple, Haverford, Radnor, Lower Merion, Plymouth townships and West Conshohocken Borough in Delaware and Montgomery counties for guiderail installations; and
Tuesday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, moving right lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the Route 291/ Commodore Barry Bridge and the northbound I-476 interchanges in the City of Chester, Chester Township, and Upland Borough for bridge inspections.

Montgomery County

Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled at the Spur Road and Huntingdon Pike Interchange in Lower Moreland Township for line stripping and signage installation; and
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-76 between the Interstate 276 and the southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) interchanges in Upper Merion and Lower Merion townships for guiderail installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

These construction activities are part of PennDOT's program to ensure the safety and overall condition of our state highways.

U.S. 1 (City Avenue) Among State Highways Restricted Next Week for Resurfacing in Philadelphia, Chester, Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia, PA – U.S. 1 (City Avenue) is among state highways restricted in Philadelphia, Chester, and Montgomery counties for resurfacing operations as part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

Philadelphia

Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 12, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Market Street between 34th Street and the Delaware County line for paving operations;
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) between Haverford Avenue and the City Avenue Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County for prepping and milling operations;
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) between U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Girard Avenue for milling operations;
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) between Castor Avenue and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) for prepping operations; and

Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 10 (Honey Brook Road) between Beaver Dam Road and the Lancaster County Line in Honey Brook Township for utility operations; and
Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Route 52 (Kennett Pike) and the Delaware County Line in Pennsbury and Kennett townships for sealing operations.

Montgomery County

Sunday, July 10, through Thursday, July 14, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Gulph Road between the U.S. 422 overpass and Abrams Run Creek near the U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) Interchange in Upper Merion Township for milling operations;
Sunday, July 10, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Crooked Lane between Gulph Road and U.S. 202 (Dekalb Street) in Upper Merion Township and Bridgeport Borough for utility adjustments and milling and paving operations;
Sunday, July 10, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 73 (Big Road/Philadelphia Avenue) between the Berks County line and Colonial Road in Upper Frederick, New Hanover, and Douglass townships for utility adjustments and milling and paving operations;
Sunday, July 10, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on New Second Street between Cheltenham Avenue and Route 73 (Township Line Road) in Cheltenham Township for utility adjustments and milling and paving operations; and

Under these resurfacing improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

U.S. 1 North Lane Closures at Night Next Week for Construction in Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA -- Northbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to a single lane on Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning between Old Lincoln Highway and the Neshaminy Exit in Bensalem Township for construction activities in Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will be removing construction barrier and completing other activities for a final traffic shift of northbound vehicles onto the reconstructed and widened northbound side of U.S. 1.

In addition, southbound Old Lincoln Highway will be closed for approximately two months beginning Monday, July 18, from the ramp to southbound U.S. 1 to Bristol Road in Middletown Township for reconstruction.

Motorists will be detoured south on U.S. 1, exit at the Neshaminy Interchange, then turn right onto Rockhill Drive to access Old Lincoln Highway.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening almost three miles of U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing several new bridges — including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit— under two contracts (RC1, RC2) to rebuild, widen and improve U.S.1 in Bucks County.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the general contractor on the $111.5 million Section RC2 project that is scheduled to be completed in mid-2026. Alan Myers Construction, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $95 million Section RC1 project that is expected to be completed this summer.

Markley Street (U.S. 202 South), Dannehower Bridge Lane Closures Next Week for Construction in Norristown

King of Prussia, PA – Travel restrictions will be in place next week on Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) and on the Dannehower Bridge for construction activities under the ongoing $25.2 million Section 510 Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) Improvement Project, which also includes improvements to the intersections of Main and Markley streets and Marshall and Markley streets in Norristown, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule and locations are:

Monday, July 11, through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the northbound approach to Main Street in Norristown from the Dannehower Bridge will be reduced to a single lane;
Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, southbound Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) will be reduced to a single lane from Marshall Street through the intersection with Main Street to the southbound approach to the Dannehower Bridge; and
Wednesday, July 13, starting at 9:00 AM, southbound Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) will be reduced to one lane 24/7 from Marshall Street through the intersection with Main Street to the southbound approach to the Dannehower Bridge. The single lane condition may remain in place sometime into the weekend of July 16-17.

Motorists are advised to remain alert for sudden slowing on the northbound bridge and are encouraged to use an alternate route around the work area. All operations are weather dependent.

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds. Construction on the entire project is expected to finish in late 2023.
