PennDOT - District 6 News: Resurfacing Scheduled on Several State Highways Next Week in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, Counties - Paving with Closure is Scheduled on Red Hill Road in Bucks County

Resurfacing Scheduled on Several State Highways Next Week in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, Counties - Paving with Closure is Scheduled on Red Hill Road in Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that resurfacing is scheduled on several state highways next week in Philadelphia, Bucks, and Delaware counties under several projects to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia region.

The work schedules and locations are:

Philadelphia

  • Monday, October 17, though Wednesday, October 19, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled on Market Street between 22nd Street and 15th Street for paving; and
  • Monday, October 17, through Wednesday, October 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are scheduled on 15th Street between Vine Street and JFK Boulevard for prepping and paving.

Bucks County

Delaware County

  • Sunday, October 16, though Friday, October 21, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Darlington Road/New Darlington Road/Valley Road between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Route 352 (Middletown Road) in Chester Heights Borough and Middletown and Edgmont townships for milling and paving;
  • Sunday, October 16, through Friday, October 21, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Crum Creek Road between Beatty Road and State Road in Upper Providence and Nether Providence townships for milling and paving;
  • Monday, October 17, through Friday, October 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Sharon Avenue/Clifton Avenue between Hook Road and Springfield Road in Aldan, Collingdale, Sharon Hill, and Darby boroughs for milling and paving;
  • Monday, October 17, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Darby Paoli Road between Bryn Mawr Avenue and Brooke Road in Radnor Township for milling;
  • Tuesday, October 18, and Wednesday, October 19, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on St. Davids Road between Church Road and the Route 252 (Darby Paoli Road) Interchange in Newtown and Radnor townships for milling;
  • Tuesday, October 18, through Friday, October 21, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Sellers Avenue between Fairmont Road and Ridley Avenue in Ridley Park Borough and Ridley Township for milling and paving;
  • Wednesday, October 19, through Friday, October 21, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Chestnut Street/Waterville Road between Route 320 (Providence Avenue) and Brookhaven Road in City of Chester and Nether Providence Township for milling and paving; and
  • Thursday, October 20, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Gulph Creek Road between King of Prussia Road and County Line Road in Radnor Township for milling.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. Local access All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these resurfacing projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a pipe repair with closure is scheduled on Ridley Creek Road in Upper Providence Township, Delaware County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

  • Tuesday, October 18, through Thursday, October 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a road closure is scheduled on Ridley Creek Road between Rose Tree Road and Sycamore Mills Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Sycamore Mills Road and Rose Tree Road. Local access will be maintained during the operation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that survey operations by North Penn Water Authority are scheduled to begin next week on Route 563 (Ridge Road) in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County. 

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

North Penn Water Authority will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

Viaduct Rehabilitation Scheduled at Night Next Week on U.S. 1 North (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that viaduct construction will continue next week on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

In addition, periodic weeknight lane closures may be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between 17th Street and Fox Street from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for work on the viaduct.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Stage 5 construction is currently underway on the northbound inner lane of the mile-long Wayne Avenue structure. 

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $92.4 million bridge improvement project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds. More project information is available at www.us1wav.com.

Bridge Construction Planned at Night Next Week on U.S. 1, Rockhill Drive in Bensalem Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction will continue next week on U.S. 1 and Rockhill Drive under a $95 million project to reconstruct, widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem Township, Bucks County. 

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Motorists are reminded that the ramp to southbound U.S. 1 from Rockhill Drive remains closed and detoured during construction at the Neshaminy Interchange.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT is reconstructing and widening almost three miles of U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing several new bridges — including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit— under two contracts (RC1, RC2) to rebuild, widen and improve U.S. 1 in Bucks County.

Allan Myers, Inc. of Worcester, PA is the general contractor on the $95 million U.S. 1 Section RC1 project that is expected to be completed this year. JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the general contractor on the $111.5 million U.S. 1 Section RC2 project that is scheduled to be completed in mid-2026.

Bridge Repairs Planned Next Week on I-295, I-95 in Bucks and Delaware Counties

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that regional bridge repairs will continue next week on Interstate 295 in Bucks County and Interstate 95 in Delaware County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT's $44.5 million bridge improvement project to perform high-priority repairs on 14 structures on I-95, I-295 and I-476 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties.

Repairs to the structures include replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.

In addition, the project includes the replacement of 24 high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.
