Heavy rains are forecasted with potential for up to 3 inches of rainfall. Heaviest rains will occur Tuesday, January 9 with accompanying strong wind gusts.  Borough crews have been out and will continue to monitor trouble spots throughout the duration of the storm.  Electric crews are prepared should any outages occur as a result of the storm.  If you see any downed wires, please stay away and contact the Police immediately at 215-368-1801 with the location. Under no circumstance should residents attempt to lift, move or adjust electric wires.

Prepare for Heavy Rainfall:

• Ensure storm drains near your house are clear and free of debris
• Clear eave troughs and ensure they are pointed down and away from your home and foundation
• Make sure that you and your family are as prepared as possible in the event a flood occurs

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Pottstown Borough and the surrounding areas beginning at 1pm on Tuesday 1/9/2024. Roads in low-lying areas may be closed due to flooding. Please do not drive around barricades. Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches with locally up to 4 inches of rain is possible Tuesday through early Wednesday, with the heaviest rain falling Tuesday night. Also, winds are expected to be at least 25-35 mph during the event. The ground remains very saturated following multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the last month. A period of higher hourly rainfall rates is possible during Tuesday night. Further updates will continue throughout the event. Please remember "Turn around, don't drown".

PennDOT announced that stormwater replacement is planned on Church Road from Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 26, weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Church Road will be closed between S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road.

- Wintry weather is likely for our area on January 6-7th. There is a great deal of uncertainty in regards to precipitation type and amount.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
