Aqua Pennsylvania Utility Improvement to Close Providence Road in Upper Darby Township, Yeadon Borough

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Aqua Pennsylvania will perform water main construction on Providence Road in Upper Darby Township and Yeadon Borough, Delaware County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Friday, January 17, through Friday, March 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Providence Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured weekdays between Hilldale Road and Lansdowne Avenue. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Oak Avenue, Baltimore Avenue, and Lansdowne Avenue.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Aqua Pennsylvania will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that PECO Energy will be performing tree removal operations on Thornton Road in Concord Township, Delaware County, beginning Wednesday, January 22.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Wednesday, January 22, through Friday, January 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Thornton Road will be closed and detoured between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Mill Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike), Brinton Lake Road, and Mill Road.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that overhead bridge construction is planned on Tacony Street in Northeast Philadelphia under PennDOT's $270 million I-95/BS2 project that will reconstruct I-95 in both directions from Margaret Street to Carver Street.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Saturday, January 11, and Saturday, January 18, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tacony Street will be closed between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Harbison Avenue and Bridge Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Roadway Construction Continues on Business U.S. 322 (High Street) Safety Improvement Project in West Chester Borough, West Goshen Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway construction will continue next week on a project to improve safety at the intersections along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township, Chester County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, January 6, through Friday, January 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Business U.S. 322 (High Street) between Barnard Street and Dean Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near and through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this contract, PennDOT's contractor will install new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street and provide signal support and related equipment. The project will consist of the installation of retroreflective backplates on existing signals, modern LED luminaries, pedestrian countdown timers at signalized intersections, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage improvements, and comprehensive full-depth pavement restoration, culminating in a complete roadway resurfacing.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is the general contractor on the $2,619,998 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Physical construction on the project is expected to finish in winter 2026.

Roadway Construction Continues at Night Next Week on Interstate 476 in Delaware, Montgomery Counties

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities will continue at night next week on I-476 under a $63.7 million project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of I-476, the associated on-and-off ramps and bridges from I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, January 6, through Friday, January 10, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of I-476 in both directions between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges for inlet replacement, tree trimming and guiderail installation.
• Monday, January 6, through Friday, February 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure will be in place on eastbound MacDade Boulevard between Bullens Lane and Fairview Road in Ridley Township, Delaware County, for bridge repair.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this resurfacing and bridge repair project, PennDOT's contractor will mill and overlay I-476 travel lanes and shoulders in both directions; perform repairs on 49 structures; improve 21 stormwater management basins to address existing rock slope stabilization issues; repair existing sound walls; replace inlets at select locations; and install new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, signage and guiderail.

The purpose of this project is to extend the design life and improve ride quality and safety of the interstate and improve the current condition of roadside elements such as stormwater basins, drainage inlets, slope stabilization, guiderail and signs that are in poor condition.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Physical construction on the project is expected to finish in late 2025.

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is planning bridge construction on Kumry Road in Milford Township, Bucks County, beginning Monday, January 6.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Monday, January 6, through Friday, January 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, Kumry Road will be closed and detoured between Rosenberger Road and Walnut Lane. Kumry Road passenger vehicles will be directed to use Allentown Road, Route 663 (John Fries Highway), and Krammes Road. Large trucks will be directed to use Main Street, Broad Street, Tollgate Road, Route 309 (West End Boulevard), and Route 663 (John Fries Highway).

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that surveying operations are planned next week on southbound I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Tuesday, January 7, and Wednesday, January 8, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Aramingo Avenue and Columbus Boulevard interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The surveying is part of the design phase for PennDOT's upcoming I-95/GR6 project that will reconstruct southbound I-95 and its structures between Frankford Avenue and Race Street. Section GR6 is scheduled for construction in 2026.
