Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) in Delaware County for Barrier Placement
Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) in
Delaware County for Barrier Placement
10/28/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
Lane restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 322 between Station Road and Spring
Valley Road in Concord Township, Delaware County, on Monday, October 31,
and
Tuesday, November 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for barrier placement, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Traffic
will be controlled by flagging.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
The
work schedule is dependent upon the weather.
The work is part of a $7.3 million roadway, maintenance and environmental
mitigation enhancement project in advance of two projects to widen six
miles of
U.S. 322 from two lanes to four lanes, and for improving the existing
mile-long, four-lane section of the highway in Bethel, Concord and Upper
Chichester townships, Delaware County.
Under this environmental mitigation enhancement project, PennDOT will build
a
pad site for the future maintenance facility to be located on Station Road
North near the intersection with U.S. 322 in Concord Township. This
facility
will replace the existing PennDOT maintenance facility on Route 261 (Foulk
Road) at the U.S. 322 Interchange in Bethel Township, which will be removed
for
the widening of U.S. 322.
The contractor will realign Station Road North to improve access to the new
maintenance site and increase the storage volume for an adjacent storm
water
basin. Additional roadway improvements to be made under this project
include
the construction of a concrete arch structure and adjacent retaining walls
over
an unnamed tributary to Webb Creek; guide rail upgrades; new signing and
pavement markings; and traffic signal adjustments at U.S. 322's
intersection
with Station Road North and Fellowship Drive.
In addition to construction, PennDOT's contractor will create 2.33 acres of
new
wetlands to expand an existing wetland site in Thornbury Township, Delaware
County, to compensate for unavoidable impacts to existing wetlands along
the
U.S. 322 corridor.
Construction is expected to finish in October 2018.
Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, Chester County, is the general contractor
on
the $7,343,510 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.
Construction to rebuild and widen U.S. 322 from two lanes to four lanes
between
U.S. 1 and Featherbed Lane/Mattson Road is expected to start in 2017. Work
to
widen the eastern half of U.S. 322 from Featherbed Lane/Mattson Road to
just
east of the Route 452 (Market Street) Interchange is expected to start in
2019.

PennDOT Reopens Bristol Road at Route 263 (York Road)
PennDOT Reopens Bristol Road at Route 263 (York Road)
10/27/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened
Bristol
Road on the east side of the intersection with Route 263 (York Road) in
Warminster and Warwick townships, Bucks County, following its
reconstruction.
Crews began construction in late September to widen Bristol Road to add
left
and right turn lanes with a through lane. PennDOT reopened this section of
Bristol Road one week ahead of schedule. Earlier this summer, the
contractor
rebuilt the west side of Bristol Road at Route 263 (York Road).
The improvement of Bristol Road is associated with PennDOT's $31.6 million
project to reconstruct and improve four miles of Route 263 (York Road)
between
Bristol Road and Sugar Bottom Road in Warwick and Warminster townships.
Construction began in March 2014 and is expected to finish in October 2017.
PennDOT is rebuilding Route 263 to provide a smoother, safer roadway for
motorists for decades to come. The improvements include full depth pavement
reconstruction of the existing four-lane concrete road and intersection
improvements.
In addition, crews are rehabilitating the bridge over the Neshaminy Creek;
rehabilitating the bridge that spans the Little Neshaminy Creek and Creek
Road;
improving drainage; installing new traffic signal equipment, guiderail,
signs,
pavement markings and curb ramps; and relocating aerial and underground
utilities.
To enhance travel along the corridor, PennDOT is installing new traffic
signals
at seven intersections on Route 263. The intersections include Tulip Road,
Kendarbren Drive/Private Drive, Kendarbren Drive/Ridge Drive, Bristol Road,
Meyer Way, Almshouse Road and Mill Road. Turn lanes are being lengthened or
added at Route 263's intersections with Bristol Road, Meyer Way and
Almshouse
Road. A new traffic signal also is being installed at Deer Run Drive.
The $31,571,380 project is financed with 100 percent federal funds. J.D.
Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor.

Travel Restrictions Next Week on U.S. 422 in Valley Forge Area
Travel Restrictions Next Week on U.S. 422 in Valley Forge Area
10/27/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA
Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on U.S. 422 in Upper Merion and
West Norriton townships, Montgomery County, and Tredyffrin Township,
Chester
County, for the delivery and setting of concrete bridge beams, and for
barrier
and sign structure work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) said today.
The operations are part of PennDOT's $97.4 million project to build new,
wider
structures to improve travel on U.S. 422 at its crossings over the
Schuylkill
River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and the Schuylkill
River
Trail. The project also includes improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23
(Valley Forge Road) and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading
Route
23 (Valley Forge Road) at its interchange with U.S. 422; and improving
ramps at
the Route 363 (Trooper Road), Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue
interchanges.

422
west will be closed between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363

PM,
U.S. 422's westbound right lane will be closed periodically between the
U.S.

From 7:00 PM Thursday, November 3, to 5:00 AM Friday, November 4, eastbound
U.S. 422 will be restricted to one lane near the Frist Avenue Interchange
for
the removal and replacement of concrete barriers.
Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel on U.S. 422
during
these operations because slowdowns may occur. The contractor's work
schedule is
dependent on the weather.
PennDOT began construction on this transportation improvement project in
February 2016 and the project is scheduled to finish in May 2020. Without
the
passage of Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan, construction on this
project would not have begun before 2018.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
