Deerwood Lane Bridge over Kimples Creek Closes in Haycock Township, Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The bridge carrying Deerwood Lane over Kimples Creek between Harrisburg School Road and Saw Mill Road, in Haycock Township, Bucks County, was closed today due to a vehicular crash that severely damaged one side of the bridge, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured over Deerwood Lane, Route 563 (Mountainview Drive), Old Bethlehem Road and Saw Mill Road. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone.

The Deerwood Lane bridge was built in 1882 and rehabilitated in 1971. The single-span, steel stringer bridge is 23 feet long, 16 feet wide and carries approximately 512 vehicles per day. Prior to its closure, the bridge was posted for 10 tons.

A project to repair or replace the structure is scheduled for bid in late September of 2021, under a PennDOT project to repair or replace several bridges across the Philadelphia region.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
