Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia and Montgomery County for
Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge

inspections in Philadelphia and Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania
Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, February 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
the Betsy Ross Bridge ramp to Interstate 95 south in Philadelphia;
• On Monday, February 29, and Tuesday, March 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
the
right lane will be closed on Route 291 west (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge)
between 26th Street and Bartram Avenue in Philadelphia;
• On Tuesday, March 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Dannehower Memorial Bridge between East Main Street and 4th Street in
Norristown and Bridgeport Borough, Montgomery County;
• On Wednesday, March 2, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 north between Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) and Academy Road.
The
northbound left lane will be closed from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in
Philadelphia;
• On Wednesday, March 2, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 south between Academy Road and Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) in
Philadelphia;
• On Wednesday, March 2, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 south between Interstate 676 and Broad Street (Route 611) in

Philadelphia; and
• On Saturday, March 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on the Penrose Avenue south ramp to I-95 south in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and
Android
devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
accessible
on the 511PA website.
