I-676 (Vine Street Expressway) Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Sign Structure and Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Single lane closures are scheduled next week on several state highways in Philadelphia including Interstate 676 for sign structure and bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between South 26th Street and Island Avenue for bridge inspection;
• Tuesday, April 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, right and left lane closures are scheduled on the ramp from University Avenue to westbound I-76 for bridge inspection;
• Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, right or left lane closures are scheduled in both directions on I-676 (Vine Street Expressway) between I-95 and I-76 interchanges for overhead sign structure inspection;
• Wednesday, April 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Wissahickon Avenue and Henry Avenue for bridge inspection;
• Wednesday, April 29, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, moving lane closures are scheduled on Tacony Street between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street for bridge inspection;
• Wednesday, April 29, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, moving lane closures are scheduled on Tacony Street between Fraley Street and Aramingo Avenue for bridge inspection;
• Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, right and left lane closures are scheduled on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between Island Avenue and South 26th Street for sign structure inspection; and
• Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, right and left lane closures are scheduled on the ramp from northbound I-95 to Aramingo Avenue for bridge inspection.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Normal highway and bridge construction projects in Pennsylvania remain paused as part of the commonwealth's efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These inspections are part of critical work that continues to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
