Chemical Road to Close Today for Sinkhole Repair in Plymouth Township

King of Prussia, PA – Chemical Road will be closed and detoured from Metroplex Boulevard to just west of Germantown Pike in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County, beginning at 3:00 PM today, March 26, for sinkhole repair, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The closure will be in place 24/7 until repairs are complete or individual travel lanes can safely be reopened.

During the closure, Chemical Road motorists will be directed to use Gallagher Road, Belvoir Road, Sandy Hill Road and Germantown Pike. Local access will be maintained for local businesses and residents.

In addition, the ramp from northbound Interstate 476 to Chemical Road (Exit 19) will remain closed during the sinkhole repair. During the ramp closure, northbound I-476 motorists will be directed to use the next exit (Germantown Pike/Exit 20) to access Chemical Road.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Work on this operation will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.
