PennDOT to Resurface Four State Highways in Chester County

Construction is expected to begin on Wednesday, August 24 on a $2.2 million

project to repair and resurface nearly 10 miles on four state highways
state
highways in Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) today announced.

PennDOT's contractor will mill the existing deteriorated riding surface and

will place new asphalt pavement on Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) to seal the
roadway and provide smoother travel.

This week, crews are scheduled to mill Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) between
the
Berks County line and Whartnaby Street in Coventry Township, Chester
County, on
Wednesday, August 24, and Thursday, August 25, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the
following morning.

This work on Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) is part of PennDOT's to repair and

resurface four state highways in Chester County, with funding from the
state's
transportation plan, Act 89.

The other three state highways to be milled and paved under this contract
are:

• U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Greenwood Avenue and Cypress Street/State

Street in Kennett and East Marlborough townships;
• Route 113 (Bridge Street/Franklin Avenue/Emmett Street/Black Rock Road)
between Route 23 (Nutt Road) and the Montgomery County line in Coventry
Township; and
• Waterloo Road between Newtown Road and Conestoga Road in Easttown
Township.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $2,277,777 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
