U.S. 422 West Daytime Lane Closure Next Week in Valley Forge Area

A lane closure is scheduled on westbound U.S. 422 between the First Avenue
and
Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges in Chester and Montgomery Counties,
respectively, on Monday, August 8, through Friday, August 12, from 9:00 AM
to
2:30 PM for the anchoring of temporary concrete barriers, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

This operation is associated with the $97.4 million project to build new,
wider
bridges to improve travel on U.S. 422 and carry motorists over the
Schuylkill
River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River
Trail
in West Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships. The project
includes improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and
Route
363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at
its
interchange with U.S. 422; and improving ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper
Road),
Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue interchanges. Construction
began
in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel on westbound U.S.
422
during this operation. The contractor's work schedule is dependent on the
weather.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract. The project is financed with 80 percent federal and
20
percent state funds.
