U.S. 422 Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages Scheduled Next Week for Construction in Valley Forge Area

U.S. 422 Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages Scheduled Next Week for
Construction in Valley Forge Area

1/18/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

U.S. 422 motorists will encounter lane closures and periodic traffic
stoppages
next week in the Valley Forge area for sign installation and bridge
demolition
operations as part of a project to build new, wider bridges to improve
travel
and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern
Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West Norriton,
Upper
Merion and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, January 22, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled

close on westbound U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and
Route
363 (Trooper Road) interchanges;
• Monday, January 22, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled
on
the ramp from westbound U.S. 422 to Route 363 (Trooper Road); and
• Wednesday, January 24, from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, periodic 15-minute
traffic
stoppages are scheduled on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 363
(Trooper
Road) and Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) interchanges.

Drivers should allow additional time for travel in the construction zones
because backups and delays will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather

dependent.

The scope of work on this project includes improving U.S. 422 between the
Route
23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading

Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at its interchange with U.S. 422; and
improving
ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper Road), Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and
First
Avenue interchanges.

Construction on this improvement project began in February 2016 and is
scheduled to finish in May 2020.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97.4 million project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.
