I-95 Overnight Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled Next Week in Center City

Interstate 95 motorists will encounter overnight lane and ramp closures
next
week for construction activities on a project to install a new underpass
lighting system in the covered section of I-95 near Dock Street in
Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced
today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 4, through Friday, June 8, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp

from Columbus Boulevard to I-95 North will be closed. During construction,
motorists wanting access to I-95 North will be directed to continue north
on
Columbus Boulevard and follow signs to make a left onto I-95 North.
Motorists
who want to access I-95 North to reach I-676 East will be directed to
continue
north on Columbus Boulevard, left on Callowhill Street and follow sign to
I-676
East;

• Monday, June 4, through Friday, June 8, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a left
lane
and shoulder will be in place on northbound I-95 from just north of the
Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange to just south of
the
Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange; and

• Thursday, June 7, and Friday, June 8, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp
from
Market Street to I-95 South will be closed. Motorists will be directed to
travel north on 5th Street, west on Arch Street, north on 7th Street and
follows signs to Interstate 676 East to I-95 South.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on I-95 near the work
areas. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to
change.

In addition to installing a new underpass lighting system, PennDOT's
contractor
is reconstructing five pump stations in Philadelphia and Bristol Township,
Bucks County. All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by
December
2019

PKF-Mark III, Inc. of Newtown, Bucks County is the general contractor on
the
$29,884,795 improvement project which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.
