Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on Several State Highways for
Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on several state highways in
Philadelphia for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Wednesday, May 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled
on
westbound Interstate 76 between the Girard Avenue and Montgomery Drive/West

River Drive interchanges;
• Wednesday, May 30, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on eastbound I-76 between the Montgomery Drive/West River Drive
and
Spring Garden Street/Haverford Avenue interchanges;
• Wednesday, May 30, and Thursday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left
lane
closure is scheduled on northbound Interstate 95 between the Island Avenue
and
Broad Street/Pattison Avenue interchanges;
• Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right
lane
closure is scheduled on westbound Interstate 676 between the Interstate 95
and
Ben Franklin Parkway interchanges; and
• Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right
lane
closure is scheduled on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between 26th Street and
I-95.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the
structures.
