Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin to Replace Route 282 (Creek Road) Bridge over Brandywine Creek in Wallace Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 10, to replace the bridge carrying Route 282 (Creek Road) over Brandywine Creek in Wallace Township, Chester County.

"Bridge improvement projects are vital to maintaining our vast transportation network," Governor Tom Wolf said. "I am pleased to see the residents of Chester County gain a new bridge that will serve the area well into the future."

PennDOT's contractor will replace the existing structure with a single span, pre-stressed, concrete bulb-tee bridge and perform other miscellaneous construction, including guide rail repair and drainage system improvements. The new structure will be 32 feet wide and 52 feet long and include five-foot shoulders.

Due to the nature of construction, Route 282 (Creek Road) will be closed and detoured between Indiantown Road and Pumpkin Hill Road beginning Monday, June 10, through mid-October. During construction, Route 282 (Creek Road) motorists will be detoured over Fairview Road and Route 82 (Manor Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Built in 1928, the current single-span, T-beam bridge carries an average of 680 vehicles a day and is posted for 30 tons and 40 tons combination vehicles.

Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, PA, is the general contractor on this $1,319,779 bridge replacement project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
