U.S. 422 Lane Closures Next Week for Sign Installations in Lower Pottsgrove
Township, Montgomery County

U.S. 422 motorists will encounter right lane closures next week in the
Pottstown Area for sign installations, as part of a project to rebuild 1.6
miles of U.S. 422 and construct new structures over the Schuylkill River
and
Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery
County.

The work schedule is:

• Thursday, December 14, from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the right lane is
scheduled
to close on westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724
(Schuylkill
Road) interchanges; and
• Friday, December 15, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled
to
close on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Keim Street and Sanatoga
interchanges.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on U.S. 422 through
the
work areas. All activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$73.3 million project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds. Work on the entire project is scheduled to finish in fall
2018.
