Travelers Heading to Philadelphia Flower Show Encouraged to ‘Get There’ by Train

Travelers Heading to Philadelphia Flower Show Encouraged to 'Get There' by
Train

2/16/2018-HARRISBURG

With the upcoming Philadelphia Flower Show running March 3-11, the
Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today encouraged the public to take
advantage of a Philadelphia Flower Show train excursion featuring an event
package and ticket discounts offered by Amtrak.

Through PA Trips By Train – a partnership with PennDOT and Amtrak –
travelers
on the Keystone and Pennsylvanian train services can visit
www.PATripsbyTrain.com and take advantage of the Amtrak ticket offers,
including buy one Amtrak ticket and get one 40 percent off, and take 50
percent
off Amtrak tickets for kids ages 2 through 12.

"The flower show is an extraordinary event and taking the train there can
help
make it an even more enjoyable experience," PennDOT Secretary Leslie S.
Richards said. "We hope this opportunity will also encourage people to take
the
train to work when they see what an efficient and comfortable way to travel
it
is."

PennDOT aims to increase already record-breaking ridership on Amtrak's
Keystone
Service, for which the department provides operating funding, through its
Commute By Rail – Get There campaign. With more than 1.5 million passengers
in
2017, the Keystone Service connects to New York City and has 11 stops from
Harrisburg to Philadelphia. The service also offers 28 weekday trains as
well
as 95-minute express service between Harrisburg and Philadelphia.

The department also supports Amtrak's Pennsylvanian Service, which features

daily service between New York City and Pittsburgh by way of Philadelphia.

PennDOT's Commute By Rail – Get There campaign aims to make Pennsylvania
commuters aware of the advantages of taking the train to work – a
cost-effective, time-efficient, direct, productive, safe and comfortable
way
for passengers to "Get There." At CommuteByRail.com, users can check out
Amtrak
routes and stations, as well as special discounts to find their best
options.
For leisure travelers, the website's PATripsByTrain.com pages also provide
information on excursion packages and discounts for popular attractions,
spanning from Pittsburgh to New York City.
