Northbound Delaware Avenue Access to Northbound Aramingo Avenue in
Philadelphia Closing March 10 for Six Months

3/7/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Access to northbound Aramingo Avenue from northbound Delaware Avenue at the

Interstate 95 Girard Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia will be closed for
approximately six months beginning Thursday, March 10, for construction,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work is part of the $211 million project in construction to rebuild the

Girard Avenue Interchange and reconstruct and widen two miles of I-95 north

between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges.

Crews will close off access to northbound Aramingo Avenue, which passes
under
I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange, after 9:00 AM Thursday, March 10.
Northbound Delaware Avenue traffic headed for northbound Aramingo Avenue
will
be detoured north on Richmond Street to Lehigh Avenue, then left on Lehigh
Avenue to Aramingo Avenue.

Motorists traveling north on Delaware Avenue are advised to expect slow
moving
traffic approaching the intersection with Aramingo Avenue, and on
northbound
Richmond Street following the closure. All scheduled activities are weather

dependent.

PennDOT expects to restore access to northbound Aramingo Avenue from
northbound
Delaware Avenue this fall following reconstruction of the intersection of
Delaware Avenue, Richmond Street and Aramingo Avenue. Crews are
reconstructing
this intersection along with building a new intersection on Richmond Street

just to the north to provide access to and from new northbound I-95
on-and-off
ramps.

Access to southbound Delaware Avenue from southbound Aramingo Avenue will
remain open during construction at the intersections except for tonight,
March
7, and Tuesday, March 8, when it will be closed for overhead bridge
demolition
from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. Southbound Aramingo Avenue
traffic will be detoured over Girard Avenue, 2nd Street, and Spring Garden
Street to reach Delaware Avenue.

Southbound Richmond Street remains closed to through traffic between Lehigh

Avenue and Aramingo Avenue for construction of the new intersection with
new
I-95 northbound entrance and exit ramps.

James J. Anderson Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general

contractor on the $211,763.226 project that is financed with 100 percent
federal funds.
