Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge

inspections in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, one lane will be closed on
the
Interstate 76 east ramp to U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard);
• On Monday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge) west between 26th Street and
Bartram
Avenue;
• On Monday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge) east between Bartram Avenue and
26th
Street;
• On Tuesday, March 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, one lane will be closed on

I-76 west between Montgomery Drive and Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive;
• On Wednesday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-76 west between South Street and Interstate 676;
• On Wednesday, March 23, from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, one lane will be closed
on
Bartram Avenue between Island Avenue and South Road;
• On Wednesday, March 23, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, one lane will be closed

Front Street north between Packer Avenue and Oregon Avenue. One southbound
lane
will be closed from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM;
• On Thursday, March 24, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
South 34th Street between Dickinson Street and Wharton Street; and
• On Thursday, March 24, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, one lane will be closed
on
South 33rd Street between Wharton Street and Grays Ferry Avenue;

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
