Travel Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia and Delaware County for
Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled over the next week for a series of bridge

inspections in Philadelphia and Delaware County, the Pennsylvania
Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, March 28, through Thursday, March 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
the
right lane will be closed on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue/Platt Bridge) west
between 26th Street and Bartram Avenue in Philadelphia;
• On Monday, March 28, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on the Interstate 95 south ramp to Girard Avenue/Lehigh Avenue in
Philadelphia;
• On Tuesday, March 29, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the left lane will be
closed
on I-95 south between Interstate 76 and Broad Street (Route 611) in
Philadelphia. The northbound right line will be closed between Packer
Avenue
and I-76 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM;
• On Wednesday, March 30, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, one lane will be closed on

26th Street north between I-76 and West Snyder Avenue in Philadelphia. One
southbound will be closed from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM; and
• On Wednesday, March 30, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on I-95 south between Interstate 476 and Commodore Barry Bridge in
the
City of Chester, Delaware County. The northbound right line will be closed
between Kerlin Street and I-476 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting

traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
