Route 29 (Morehall Road) To Be Reduced to Two Travel Lanes Next Week for Improvement Project in Chester County

Route 29 (Morehall Road) To Be Reduced to Two Travel Lanes Next Week for
Improvement Project in Chester County

6/1/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

Route 29 (Morehall Road) will be reduced to one travel lane in each
direction
between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange and Atwater Drive/General
Warren
Boulevard in East Whiteland and Charlestown townships, Chester County,
beginning Friday, June 8, through early July, for construction activities
related to an improvement project to reconstruct a portion of the highway,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Under this improvement project. crews are working to correct existing
sinkhole
and pavement subsidence issues.

During construction, all traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of
Route 29 (Morehall Road), with one northbound lane and one southbound lane
available.

Route 29 (Morehall Road) motorists as well as motorists exiting the
Pennsylvania Turnpike are advised to allow extra time when traveling
through
this work zone because slowdowns will occur during construction. The
contractor's schedule is weather dependent.

In addition, motorists will encounter weekday lane closures next week on
Route
29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and Yellow Springs Road. The work
schedule is:

• Monday, June 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on
southbound Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Yellow Springs Road and Atwater

Drive;
• Tuesday, June 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
in both directions on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and
Yellow
Springs Road; and
• Wednesday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on southbound Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Yellow Springs Road and
Atwater
Drive.

PennDOT is working to minimize future sinkhole problems by constructing
geotechnical treatments and roadway drainage improvements to prevent
surface
water infiltration and provide structural support to the roadway. The
project
is scheduled to be completed in fall 2018.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $2,592,555 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
