U.S. 202, U.S. 30 Lane and Ramp Restrictions at Night Next Week for Construction in Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – Northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from two lanes-to-one approaching the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange, and two off-ramps at the interchange will be closed at night next week for bridge and ramp construction in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
From 8:00 PM Thursday, July 5, to 5:00 AM Friday, July 6, and from 8:00 PM Friday, July 6, to 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7, the right lane on northbound U.S. 202 will be closed approaching the U.S. 30 Interchange for pavement joint cutting and sealing, and line painting on both sides of the bridge over Amtrak. The adjacent ramp from U.S. 202 north to Business U.S. 30 also will be closed during work on the overpass.
In addition, the ramp from the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 will be closed from 8:00 PM Thursday, July 5, to 5:00 AM Friday, July 6, and from 8:00 PM Friday, July 6, to 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7, for barrier shifting and line painting on the ramp.
Northbound U.S. 202 motorists heading for Business 30 will be directed to exit at the Route 401 (Conestoga Road) Interchange, then turn right onto Route 401 (Conestoga Road) to Business 30.
U.S. 30/Exton Bypass motorists heading to northbound U.S. 202 will exit at Business U.S. 30 and turn right to access the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
Motorists are advised that backups may occur at times approaching the work zone. All schedule activities are weather permitting.
Next week's planned operations will begin a two-week process of completing rehabilitation of the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over Amtrak and preparing the crossovers north and south of the bridge for a traffic shift in mid-July. That shift will move the left lane on southbound U.S. 202 onto the rehabilitated northbound span as an "express lane" during rehabilitation of the southbound bridge. The southbound right lane will remain on the southbound side during southbound bridge construction.
The work is part of PennDOT's $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass ramp, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass. The entire project is expected to be completed in fall 2019.
Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
