I-95, Route 291 Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter travel restrictions next week on Interstate 95 and Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) in Philadelphia for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, July 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on southbound I-95 between the Academy Road/Linden Avenue and Bridge Street/Harbison Avenue interchanges;
• Monday, July 2, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on northbound I-95 between the Cottman Avenue/Rhawn Street and Academy Road/Linden Avenue interchanges; and
• Saturday, July 7, and Sunday, July 8, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between 26th Street and I-95 South.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
