This is a message from ReadyChesco. Attached is the latest briefing for excessive heat and thunderstorm hazards today. The Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 6 PM this evening for the I95 urban corridor. The risk for both excessive heat and severe thunderstorms tomorrow (Saturday) is minimal, so we anticipate this will be the last briefing for this event. If the risk for hazardous weather tomorrow increases, we may issue one more briefing tomorrow.
Chester County Forecasted Conditions:
- Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 6PM tonight
- Saturday, July 9th, will remain hot but heat index will be lower
- Thunderstorms possible from midafternoon through late this evening
- Possibility of strong winds
- Potential for heavy rain that could cause localized flooding in poor drainage and urban areas
Active Watches & Warnings:
- Eastern Chester County is in an Excessive Heat Warning until 6PM this evening
DES Actions:
- We will continue to monitor this event and provide additional information as it becomes available.
- The Watch Officer is available through the 9-1-1 Operations Center by calling 610-344-5100.
- The EOC is not expected to be activated for this event.
