U.S. 202 Overnight Restrictions Next Week in Chester County

U.S. 202 Overnight Restrictions Next Week in Chester County

7/22/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Travel restrictions are scheduled this weekend for paving on Route 401 and
at
night next week on U. S. 202 between the Route 29 and U.S. 30 interchanges
in
East Whiteland Township, Chester County, for the final stage of median
reconstruction and the continuation of operations to open the newly
reconstructed and widened expressway to three lanes in each direction in
early
August, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

Construction on U.S. 202 and on Route 401 is part of PennDOT's $63.3
million
project to widen and reconstruct 2.5 miles of the expressway from north of
Route 401 to U.S. 30, and to rebuild and improve the Route 401 Interchange.

On Sunday, July 24, through Thursday, July 28, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, and on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30, from 8:00
PM
to 10:00 AM the following morning, U.S. 202 north and south will be reduced
to
one lane periodically at various locations between the Route 29 and U.S. 30

interchanges for pavement grinding, placement of median barrier/glare
screen,
shoulder paving, removal of construction barriers, and line painting.

As part of the U.S. 202 construction operation, the ramp from the U.S. 30
Bypass east to U.S. 202 north will be closed from 8:00 PM Saturday, July
30, to
10:00 AM Sunday, July 31. U.S. 30 east motorists headed for U.S. 202 north
will
be detoured to the U.S. 30 East/Frazer off ramp, then right onto U.S. 30
east
(Lancaster Avenue), and right immediately onto the ramp to U.S. 202 north.

In addition, lane closures will be in place on Route 401 (Conestoga Road)
at
the U.S. 202 Interchange this Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24, from
5:00
AM to 7:00 PM for paving between Municipal Drive and Moores Road. Motorists
can
expect delays on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) during this weekend operation.

Construction to expand U.S. 202 to six lanes from north of Route 401 to
U.S.
30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, is being performed by
Allan A.
Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County.

The contractor's schedule is weather dependent, and motorists are advised
to
allow additional time for travel and use extra care when driving through
the
construction zones.
