U.S. 202 Overnight Restrictions Next Week in Chester County

7/15/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

U.S. 202 travel restrictions are scheduled at night next week between the
Route
401 and U.S. 30 interchanges in East Whiteland Township, Chester County,
for
the final stage of median reconstruction and the continuation of operations
to
open the newly reconstructed and widened expressway to three lanes in each
direction in early August, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) said today.

Overnight construction on U.S. 202 is part of PennDOT's $63.3 million
project
to widen and reconstruct 2.5 miles of the expressway from north of Route
401 to
U.S. 30, and to rebuild and improve the Route 401 Interchange.

On Monday, July 18, through Thursday, July 21, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, and from 8:00 PM Friday, July 22, to 10:00 AM Saturday,
July
23, U.S. 202 north and south will be reduced to one lane periodically at
various locations between the Route 401 and U.S. 30 interchanges for
installation of noise wall panels, pavement grinding, placement of median
barrier/glare screen, shoulder paving, removal of construction barriers,
and
line painting.

Lane restrictions also are scheduled on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) at the
U.S.
202 Interchange for final resurfacing operations between Municipal Drive
and
Moores Road. Lane closures will occur Sunday, July 17, through Thursday,
July
21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
and
on Friday, July 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 10:00 AM
Saturday,
July 23.

PennDOT's contractor will work weeknights for the remainder of July to
remove
all construction barriers, paint new traffic lines and complete other
roadwork
before opening U.S. 202 to three lanes in each direction in early August

Construction to expand U.S. 202 to six lanes from north of Route 401 to
U.S.
30, including work at the Route 401 Interchange, is being performed by
Allan A.
Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County.

The contractor's schedule is weather dependent, and motorists are advised
to
allow additional time for travel and use extra care when driving through
the
construction zones.
