NWS Weather Briefing

Attached is a weather briefing from the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ regarding the exceptionally cold temperatures expected for Chester County Thursday, December 15th and Friday, December 16th. Additionally, a wintery mix may occur sometime over the weekend; however there is still much uncertainty regarding when and how much. Here are the details:

 Chester County Forecasted Conditions:

•           Anticipated Timing: Thursday, 12/15/16 and Friday, 12/16/16

•           Duration: 2 days

•           Wind speeds: winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph

•           Extremely cold temperatures with wind chills in the single digits

•           Precipitation: a mix of snow, freezing rain, and sleet possible over the weekend

•           Active watches & warnings: None at this time

 Impacts:

•           Cold temperatures can threaten the lives of vulnerable populations without access to shelter.

 Recommended Preparedness Actions:

•           Follow the NWS and local weather forecasts throughout the weekend for the latest changes, updates,      and information.

•           Identify Comfort (Warming) Centers that are available in your community.
