PennDOT to Rehabilitate Garnet Mine Road Bridge over Green Creek in Bethel
Township, Delaware County

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 19, to rehabilitate
the
Garnet Mine Road bridge over Green Creek in Bethel Township, Delaware
County,
the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today. The
bridge
is expected to reopen in January, 2017.

Over the next six weeks, crews will work to replace a deteriorated wing
wall.
During the operation, Garnet Mine Road will be closed and detoured between
Woods Edge Drive and Brookstone Drive. Motorists will be detoured over
Bethel
Road and Route 261 (Foulk Road).

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Built in 1986, the one-span concrete culvert is 20 feet long and 31 feet
wide.
The structure carries 2,032 vehicles a day.

The rehabilitation of the Garnet Mine Road bridge is part of PennDOT's $6.8

million project to rehabilitate four structurally-deficient bridges in
Bucks
and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks
County,
and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County. The cost
to
rehabilitate the Route 401 (Conestoga Road) bridge is approximately
$300,000.

This transportation improvement project is financed with 100 percent state
funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan.

All work on the project is scheduled to be completed in late 2018. The
general
contractor is Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J.
