Weather Briefing - 12/15/2016 PM

Attached is the latest weather briefing from the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ regarding the bitter cold temperatures that will continue through Friday. Additionally, snow is expected to develop late Friday night before changing to a wintry mix, and then to plain rain, starting from southeast to northwest during the day on Saturday.

Key Updates: No major changes from this morning's briefing.

Chester County Forecasted Conditions:

                  Anticipated Timing:  Tonight through Saturday afternoon, 12/17/2016

                  Wind speeds: Strong winds of 15 to 25 MPH, with frequent gusts to 30-40 MPH will continue through tonight. Locally higher gusts are possible.

                  Extremely cold temperatures with wind chills in the single digits.

                  Precipitation: Chester County could receive up to 4 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday.

                  Ice accumulations of .04 inches are possible countywide.

                  Active watches & warnings: None at this time

 Impacts:

                  Bitter cold is expected tonight and Friday. Exposed skin will be susceptible to frostbite.

                  Pets should not be left outside.

                  Pipes are also susceptible to freezing due to the prolonged period with temperatures below freezing.

                  Hazardous travel conditions are possible on Friday evening into Saturday morning.

Recommended Preparedness Actions:

                  Review winter weather plans and prepare. 

                  Follow the NWS and local weather forecasts throughout the weekend for the latest changes, updates, and information.

                  Identify Comfort (Warming) Centers that are available in your community.
