for tree removal operations in the Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, December 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions with
flagging
are scheduled on Route 113 (Kimberton Road) between Township Line Road and
Ross
Lane in East Pikeland and Schuylkill townships, Chester County;
• Monday, December 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on northbound Interstate 476 between Media/Swarthmore and the
U.S. 1
interchanges in Springfield Township, Delaware County;
• Monday, December 4, and Tuesday, December 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
lane
restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Wismer Road at Stump Road in
Plumstead Township, Bucks County;
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 7:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
intermittent left lane closures are scheduled on U.S. 30 Bypass in both
directions between the Route 340 (Bondsville Road) Interchange and Route 10
(Octorara Trail) in Caln, Wallace and Sadsbury townships, Chester County;
• Tuesday, December 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions with
flagging
are scheduled on Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) from Scholl Road to just east
of
Unionville Road in North Coventry Township, Chester County;
• Tuesday, December 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Route 352
(Middletown
Road) and Route 252 (Providence Road) interchanges in Middletown Township,
Delaware County;
• Tuesday, December 5, through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
center and left lane closures are scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt
Boulevard) between Ryan Avenue and Faunce Street in Philadelphia;
• Wednesday, December 6, and Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
a
right lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-476 between U.S. 30
(Lancaster
Avenue) and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange in Haverford
Township,
Delaware County; and
• Wednesday, December 6, through Friday, December 8, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on State Road between

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas

Eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 in the Pottstown area will be closed and
detoured for several nights for barrier installation as part of a project
to
improve and reconstruct 1.2 miles of U.S. 422 from just east of the
Schuylkill
River bridge to just west of the Montgomery County line in North Coventry
Township, Chester County, West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and
Douglass Township, Berks County, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00
AM,
eastbound U.S. 422 will be closed and detoured from the split with Benjamin
Franklin Highway in Douglass Township, Berks County, to Route 100
(Pottstown
Pike) in North Coventry Township, Chester County. During construction,
eastbound U.S. 422 motorists will be directed to continue on Benjamin
Franklin
Highway/High Street and turn right on Route 100 South (Pottstown Pike) to
access the ramp to eastbound U.S. 422; and
• Friday, December 8, and Monday, December 11, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM,
westbound U.S. 422 will be closed and detoured from Route 100 (Pottstown

to the split with Benjamin Franklin Highway. During construction, westbound

dependent.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is reconstructing U.S. 422 on both
existing and new alignments; reconfiguring the U.S. 422/Stowe Interchange
to a
diamond configuration; removing and replacing the existing ramps and
culverts;
installing new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment, message
boards, signing, pavement markings, lighting, concrete median barriers,
median
glare screens and guide rail; upgrading stormwater management facilities
and
pipes; and constructing and restoring wetlands.
H & K Group, Inc. of Schwenksville, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor on the $35,581,408 improvement project which is financed with
100
percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan. The
entire
project is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.

Eastbound Interstate 76 will be reduced to a single lane and then closed,
and
westbound I-76 will be reduced to a single lane overnight next week between
the
30th Street and South Street interchanges in Philadelphia for construction
on
the viaduct carrying Schuylkill Avenue over the expressway between Walnut
Street and Market Street, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 PM to 11:00
PM,
eastbound I-76 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one between the Interstate
676
and South Street interchanges;
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 11:00 PM to 5:00
AM
the following morning, eastbound I-76 will be closed between the I-676 and
South Street interchanges. During the overnight closure, eastbound I-76
traffic
will exit at 30th Street and follow 30th Street to Chestnut Street, then
left
on Chestnut Street and right on Schuylkill Avenue to access the ramp to
eastbound I-76 at Walnut Street; and
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, westbound I-76 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one
between
the 30th Street and I-676 interchanges.
The lane and ramp closures will allow crews to continue demolition of the
concrete deck and repair two sections of the Schuylkill Avenue viaduct.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route or allow addition time for
travel on I-76 near the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
All
scheduled activities are weather dependent.
In addition, a new temporary traffic pattern will be put in place on
Chestnut
Street just east of the Schuylkill River beginning Monday, December 4. The
new
pattern will narrow the lane widths on Chestnut Street to 10 feet and shift
the
two travel lanes to the north from the east side of the river to 23rd
Street.
The south sidewalk on Chestnut Street also will be closed, and parking will
be
eliminated on the north side of Chestnut Street between the river and 23rd
Street.
Crews will work Monday, December 4 through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00
PM
to 5:00 AM the following morning to set up the new pattern and close the
south
sidewalk, periodically reducing Chestnut Street to a single lane between
the
river bridge and 23rd Street.
The new pattern on Chestnut Street will be in place for approximately 12
months
while crews rehabilitate the south side of the Chestnut Street arch bridge
over
24th Street.
24th Street also will be closed to motorists and pedestrians at the
Chestnut
Street overpass. Access to homes and business on the south side of Chestnut
Street will be maintained during construction.
The work is part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the
Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River and eight other nearby
structures, including those carrying Schuylkill Avenue over I-76 between
Walnut
Street and Chestnut Street, and between Chestnut Street and Market Street.
In addition to repairing and repainting the steel superstructure and
replacing
the deck of the main bridge carrying Chestnut Street over the Schuylkill
River
and the two Schuylkill Avenue structures over I-76, the project also
includes:
• Rehabilitating two structures on the Interstate 76 on-and-off-ramps
between
Chestnut Street and Walnut Street;
• Resurfacing Chestnut Street from 31st Street to 30th Street, and from
24th
Street to 23rd Street;
• Constructing wider sidewalks and installing decorative barrier and
railings
on the Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue bridges;
• Rehabilitating a 900-foot section of the river wall structure between
I-76
and the Schuylkill River from Market Street and Walnut Street;
• Rehabilitating a 15-foot section of the retaining wall supporting the
Schuylkill River Trail under Chestnut Street;
• Installing new traffic signals, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)
equipment, and street lighting along Chestnut Street between 31st Street
and
23rd Street;
• Replacing millennium lighting on Chestnut Street over the Schuylkill
River;
• Constructing a new trellis at the Chestnut Street Trailhead to the
Schuylkill
River Trail;
• Restriping pavement markings for a bicycle lane on Chestnut Street
between
34th Street and 22nd Street; and
• Installing a new clear acrylic barrier along Amtrak Northeast Corridor
tracks
located on the west side of Schuylkill Avenue West between Chestnut Street
and
Walnut Street.
The bridges on Chestnut Street and Schuylkill Avenue West will be under
construction concurrently and will remain open for most of the project.
There
will be various lane and sidewalk restrictions during the three stages of
construction that will require shifts in travel lane and sidewalk
configurations.
Approximately midway through the project, a detour will be in place for
about
one year on Chestnut Street from Schuylkill Avenue West to 23rd Street for
the
rehabilitation of the structurally deficient bridge carrying Chestnut
Street
over the CSX rail lines.
The Schuylkill River Trail will be closed below Chestnut Street for
approximately three months over the winter of 2017-2018 for repairs.
In addition, the on-and-off-ramps at the I-76 Interchange between Chestnut
Street and Walnut Street will be restricted to a single lane of traffic
during
construction. There will also be nighttime and weekend full closures of the
ramps during certain construction operations.
The entire project is scheduled to finish in fall 2020.

funds.

The work schedule is:

During construction, all traffic will be controlled by flagging. Motorists
are
advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction areas
because slowdowns will occur.
On Monday, December 4, Plank Road will also be reopened between Route 29
(Gravel Pike) and Route 73 (Skippack Pike) in Perkiomen and Skippack
townships
until work can resume in the spring. Plank Road had been closed since early

Daytime and overnight lane closures are scheduled next week on eastbound
and
westbound Interstate 76 from just west of U.S. 202 to U.S. 1 (City Avenue)
in
Upper Merion Township, West Conshohocken Borough and Lower Merion Township,
Montgomery County, for repair and pavement marking installations as part of
a
project to resurface 12.5 miles of the expressway, the Pennsylvania
Department
of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, December 4, through Thursday, December 7, from 10:00 AM to 2:00
PM
and 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM; and
• Friday, December 8, from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route or allow extra time when
traveling on I-76 in the work area because backups and delays will occur.
All

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling, overlaying and

I-95 Lanes Closures Scheduled Next Week for Overhead Bridge Construction in

Lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound Interstate 95
between
the Interstate 476 (Exit 7) and Route 352/Route 320 (Exit 6) interchanges
in
the City of Chester, Delaware County, on Monday, December 4, through
Friday,
December 8, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for construction
activities related to a project to rehabilitate eight bridges over I-95 and
CSX
Railroad in the city, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT)
announced today.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 near the
work
area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are
weather dependent.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is rehabilitating the multi-span,
steel
girder bridges on Potter Street, Madison Street, Upland Street, Melrose
Avenue,
Chestnut Street, Edgmont Avenue, and the Crosby Street and Walnut Street
pedestrian structures. The contractor is also improving the I-95 south exit
ramp at Chestnut Street.
PennDOT owns the Edgmont Avenue and Madison Street bridges, and the City of
Chester owns the remaining six structures.
In addition to the bridge and ramp improvements, PennDOT's contractor is
repairing Chestnut Street and Morton Avenue from 12th Street to 4th Street;
reconstructing curbs and sidewalks; milling and resurfacing the streets;
installing a new traffic signal at Chestnut Street and Morton Avenue;
upgrading
the traffic signal at Morton Avenue and 7th Street; and reconstructing
Morton
Avenue from 7th Street to 4th Street to lower the road under the Amtrak
overpass to increase vertical clearance.
South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on the $16.6
million project which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

pattern with flagging between Route 320 (Spring Mill Road) and Ithan Avenue

Radnor Township, Delaware County, on Monday, December 4, through Friday,
December 8, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead
pedestrian bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.
Motorists are advised to allow additional time when traveling through the
work
zone. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.
The work is part of a $3.7 million local project to construct a new
pedestrian
bridge over U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) to connect Villanova University and
the
SEPTA platform. Once completed, Villanova University will own and maintain

PennDOT Photo License Center co-located with AAA at 9475 Roosevelt Blvd. in
Philadelphia has resumed normal operations after resolving a recent
facility
issue.
Hours of operation at the Roosevelt Boulevard photo licensing facility are
Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM and Thursdays 8:30 AM to
6:00
PM.
Customers may also obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and
services
online through PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services website,
www.dmv.pa.gov.
Driver and vehicle online services are available 24-hours-a-day,

Daytime lane closures are scheduled in both directions on the outer lanes

U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between 9th Street and the Bucks County line,
on
Monday, November 27, through Friday, December 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
for
construction activities related to a major improvement project to repair
and
resurface 12 miles of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in Philadelphia, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
allow
extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in the work areas
because backups and delays will occur during construction.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the outside, local lanes with new asphalt. The project also
includes resurfacing crossover lanes. The new pavement will seal the
roadways
and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor
on
the $7,645,967 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from
Act
89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.
The inner lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) were resurfaced in 2014,
also
with funds from Act 89.

Daytime lane closures are scheduled in both directions on the outer lanes
of
U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between 9th Street and the Bucks County line,
on
Monday, November 27, through Friday, December 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
for
construction activities related to a major improvement project to repair
and
resurface 12 miles of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in Philadelphia, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists are advised to
allow
extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in the work areas
because backups and delays will occur during construction.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the outside, local lanes with new asphalt. The project also
includes resurfacing crossover lanes. The new pavement will seal the
roadways
and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor
on
the $7,645,967 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds from
Act
89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.
The inner lanes of U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) were resurfaced in 2014,
also
with funds from Act 89.

Delaware County, for construction related to a project to improve and widen

highway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.
On Monday, November 27, through Friday, December 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
and Saturday, December 2, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, flaggers will direct an
alternating single lane of traffic on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) through
various work areas along the 2.6-mile construction zone.

the CSX railroad and Bethel Road as well as improvements to the adjacent

The pedestrian bridge carrying Walnut Street over Interstate 95 is
scheduled to
close beginning Monday, December 4, as part of a project to rehabilitate
eight
bridges over I-95 and CSX Railroad in the City of Chester, Delaware County,
the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The
pedestrian bridge is scheduled to reopen in early April 2018.
During the four-month closure, pedestrians will be directed use the
Chestnut
Street bridge to cross I-95.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is rehabilitating the multi-span,
steel
girder bridges on Potter Street, Madison Street, Upland Street, Melrose
Avenue,
Chestnut Street, Edgmont Avenue, and the Crosby Street and Walnut Street
pedestrian structures. The contractor is also improving the I-95 south exit
ramp at Chestnut Street.
PennDOT owns the Edgmont Avenue and Madison Street bridges, and the City of
Chester owns the remaining six structures.

Police discussed the use of sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and

traffic safety patrols to target motorists who are driving while under the
influence of drugs or alcohol. Pennsylvania State Police and hundreds of
municipal police departments statewide will participate in the "Operation
Safe
Holiday" campaign this year to increase traffic safety enforcement through
the
New Year's holiday.
PennDOT data indicates that the winter holiday season continues to be the
leading time period for traffic crashes. In 2016, there were 8,608 crashes
and
79 fatalities statewide during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year
travel
periods. Of those, 1,072 crashes and 27 fatalities were impaired-driving
related.

week and reduced to a single lane on other nights between the 30th Street

South Street interchanges in Philadelphia for construction on the viaduct
carrying Schuylkill Avenue over the expressway between Walnut Street and
Market
Street, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.
The work schedule is:
• Monday, November 27, and Tuesday, November 28, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, eastbound I-76 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one
between
the Interstate 676 and South Street interchanges;
• Monday, November 27, and Tuesday, November 28, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM
the
following morning, westbound I-76 will be closed between the 30th Street
and
I-676 interchanges. During the overnight closure, westbound I-76 traffic
will
be directed to use the ramp to 30th Street and continue across Schuylkill
Avenue to the ramp back to I-76 West at Market Street;
• Wednesday, November 29, and Thursday, November 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00
AM
the following morning, westbound I-76 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one
between the 30th Street and I-676 interchanges; and
• Wednesday, November 29, and Thursday, November 30, from 11:00 PM to 5:00
AM
the following morning, eastbound I-76 will be closed between the I-676 and
South Street interchanges. During the overnight closure, eastbound I-76
traffic
will exit at 30th Street and follow 30th Street to Chestnut Street, then

River;
• Constructing a new trellis at the Chestnut Street Trailhead to the
Schuylkill
River Trail;
• Restriping pavement markings for a bicycle lane on Chestnut Street

• Installing a new clear acrylic barrier along Amtrak Northeast Corridor
tracks
located on the west side of Schuylkill Avenue West between Chestnut Street
