PennDOT to Replace Rocky Ridge Road Bridge over Tohickon Creek in Bucks
County

11/13/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, November 27, to replace the
bridge
carrying Rocky Ridge Road over a branch of Tohickon Creek in Richland
Township,
Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced
today. The new structure is expected to be completed in April 2018.

Due to the nature of construction, Rocky Ridge Road will be closed and
detoured
between Rockhill Road and Paletown Road.

During the five-month closure, Rocky Ridge Road motorists will be directed
to
use Rockhill Road, Route 313 (Doylestown Pike) and Paletown Road. Local
access
will be maintained up to the construction zone.

The existing single-span structure was built in 1927 and rehabilitated in
1980.
The steel I-beam bridge is 19 feet long and 16 feet wide, and carries an
average of 119 vehicles a day.

PennDOT's contractor will replace the bridge with a single-span box culvert
as
well as upgrade all safety features, including installation of new
guiderail.
In addition, the bridge will be widened to accommodate two travel lanes.
The
new structure will be 17 feet long and 25 feet wide.

The work is being performed under PennDOT's $11,766,000 project to
rehabilitate
five structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester, Montgomery and
Philadelphia counties, and replace six structurally-deficient culverts in
Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties.

Henry Avenue over Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia is also currently under

construction.

Structures completed under this project include:

• Oxford Valley Road over U.S. 1 in Falls, Lower Makefield and Middletown
townships, Bucks County;
• Route 663 (Layfield Road) bridge over Green Lane Reservoir Creek in Upper

Hanover Township, Montgomery County;
• Edenton Road bridge over Rattlesnake Run in Upper Oxford Township,
Chester
County;
• Torresdale Avenue bridge over Academy Road in Philadelphia; and
• Route 82 (Doe Run Road) over a branch of Sucker Run in East Fallowfield
Township, Chester County.

The other culvert replacements on this project include:

• State Road bridge over a branch of Cooks Creek in Springfield Township,
Bucks
County;
• White Horse Road over a branch of Pickering Creek in Schuylkill Township,

Chester County;
• Route 282 (Creek Road) over a branch of Brandywine Creek in East
Brandywine
Township, Chester County; and
• MacDade Boulevard over the Muckinipattis Creek in Glenolden Borough,
Delaware
County.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in August 2018.
