U.S. 322 at Fellowship Drive Restricted Next Week for Utility Construction in Concord Township, Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA –  U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) will be reduced to a single lane with flagging at Fellowship Drive in Concord Township, Delaware County, on Monday, July 23, through Friday, July 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for utility construction as part of a roadway, maintenance and environmental mitigation enhancement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. Fellowship Drive traffic will also be controlled by flagging at the intersection with U.S. 322.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel because delays will occur through the intersection during construction. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building a pad site for a future maintenance facility to be located on Station Road North near the intersection with U.S. 322. This facility will replace the existing PennDOT maintenance facility on Route 261 (Foulk Road) at the U.S. 322 Interchange in Bethel Township, which will be removed for the widening of U.S. 322.

The contractor is also realigning Station Road North to improve access to the new maintenance site and increase the storage volume for an adjacent storm water basin; constructing a concrete arch structure and adjacent retaining walls over an unnamed tributary to Webb Creek; installing new guide rail, signing and pavement markings; and adjusting traffic signals at U.S. 322's intersection with Station Road North and Fellowship Drive.

In addition to construction, PennDOT is creating 2.33 acres of new wetlands to expand an existing wetland site in Thornbury Township, Delaware County, to compensate for unavoidable impacts to existing wetlands along the U.S. 322 corridor.

Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, Chester County, is the general contractor on the $7,343,510 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed this fall.
