I-95 Overnight Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week for Lighting Improvements in Center City Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter overnight lane closures in both directions next week for construction activities on a project to install a new underpass lighting system in the covered section of I-95 near Dock Street in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

The work schedule is:
  • Monday, July 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a right lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 from just south of the Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange to just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange;
  • Tuesday, July 31, and Wednesday, August 1, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a left lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 from just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange to just south of the Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange; and
  • Thursday, August 2, and Friday, August 3, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a left lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 from just south of the Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange to just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange.
Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on I-95 near the work areas. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. 

In addition to installing a new underpass lighting system, PennDOT's contractor is reconstructing five pump stations in Philadelphia and Bristol Township, Bucks County. All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by December 2019

PKF-Mark III, Inc. of Newtown, Bucks County is the general contractor on the $29,884,795 improvement project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
