U.S. 422 East Lane Closure Next Week for Pipe Cleaning in Pottstown Area
King of Prussia, PA – The right lane is scheduled to close on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Keim Street and Sanatoga interchanges on Tuesday, July 31, and Wednesday, August 1, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, for pipe cleaning operations as part of a project to rebuild 1.6 miles of U.S. 422 and construct new structures over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on eastbound U.S. 422 through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent.
Under this project, PennDOT's is building, in phases, new U.S. 422 structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River bridge to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning ramps at the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and realigning the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage; erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and signs.
J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on the $73.3 million project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. Work on the entire project is scheduled to finish this fall.
