Several State Highways to be Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia and Bucks County

​King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter travel restrictions on several state highways next week including Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) in Philadelphia and U.S. 1 in Bucks County for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, July 23, through Friday, July 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between 26th Street and Interstate 95 South in Philadelphia;
  • Tuesday, July 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 at the U.S 13 interchange in Falls Township, Bucks County;
  • Wednesday, July 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on Grays Ferry Avenue between 34th Street and Paschall Avenue in Philadelphia; and
  • Thursday, July 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled in both directions on Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) at the U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) interchange in Bensalem Township, Bucks County.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
