PennDOT Reopens Loux Covered Bridge in Bedminster Township, Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The historic Loux Covered Bridge over Cabin Run on Carver-Wismer Road in Bedminster Township, Bucks County reopened today following a four-month closure due to structural damage sustained from an oversized vehicle, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The one-lane, steel I-beam, timber-covered bridge was originally built in 1874 and reconstructed in 1996. Following its closure in August 2017 due to damage sustained from another crash, the bridge was reopened in December 2017 as part of a $11,766,000 rehabilitation project.

The single-span bridge is 80 feet long, 19 feet wide, and has a posted weight limit of 15 tons and a height limit of 11 feet. The structure carries an average of 486 vehicles a day.
