U.S. 202 South Lane Closure Next Friday Night for Bridge Construction in Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – Southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced to a single lane through the U.S. 30 Interchange in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, from 8:00 PM Friday, December 21, to 10:00 AM Saturday, December 22, for barrier realignment and line painting that will complete the new southbound traffic pattern that is scheduled to be in place by Saturday, December 15 for bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
By 10:00 AM Saturday, December 15, a single lane of southbound U.S. 202 traffic is scheduled to shift onto the rebuilt inner half of the southbound bridge over Amtrak. The traffic shift will remove vehicles from the outer half of the southbound bridge, allowing rehabilitation to begin on that half of the structure.
A second southbound lane will continue in the "express lane" traffic pattern that has been in place on the rehabilitated northbound bridge since the start of southbound construction last July. Two northbound lanes will remain on the northbound side through the work zone for the remainder of the project.
Motorists are advised that backups may occur at times approaching the work zone. All schedule activities are weather permitting.
The bridge repairs are part of PennDOT's $26.4 million project that also included replacement of the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass. The entire project is expected to be completed in mid-2019.
Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
