Travel Restrictions Scheduled Next Week on Several State Highways for
Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on several state highways in
Philadelphia for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, April 8, through Tuesday, April 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a
right
lane closure is scheduled on westbound Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between
Interstate 95 South and 26th Street;
• Monday, April 9, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) between Henry Avenue and
Wissahickon
Avenue;
• Monday, April 9, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) between Wissahickon Avenue and
Henry
Avenue;
• Tuesday, April 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) between 9th Street and Broad
Street
(Route 611);
• Wednesday, April 11, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled
on
the ramp from University Avenue to westbound I-76;
• Thursday, April 12, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on westbound I-76 between the Montgomery Drive and U.S. 1 South
(City
Avenue) interchanges;
• Thursday, April 12, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on eastbound I-76 between the U.S. 1 North (Roosevelt Boulevard)
and
Montgomery Drive interchanges;
• Thursday, April 12, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is
scheduled on westbound I-76 between the Montgomery Drive and U.S. 1 South
(City
Avenue) interchanges;
• Friday, April 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on

northbound I-95 between the Cottman Avenue and Academy Road interchanges;
and
• Friday, April 13, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on southbound I-95 between the Academy Road and Cottman Avenue
interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the
structures.
