Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on ‘Green Light–Go’ Project in Chester and Delaware Counties

Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on 'Green Light–Go' Project in
Chester and Delaware Counties

6/8/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to
begin
next week on a project to improve travel and safety at 51 intersections in
several municipalities across Chester and Delaware counties, as part of
PennDOT's "Green Light-Go" initiative, Pennsylvania's Municipal Signal
Partnership Program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of
existing traffic signals located in the Commonwealth.

"Partnerships with municipalities are critical to improving our vast
transportation network," Governor Tom Wolf said. "This program is meant to
enhance safety and reduce congestion at busy intersections in communities
statewide."

Made possible by Act 89, the state's transportation funding plan, the
program
establishes partnership agreements between municipalities and PennDOT
through
which municipalities request up to 50-percent funding for traffic-signal
projects. These grants were announced in May 2017.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT's contractor will install adaptive
signal control technology, fiber optic cables, four-way video detection
systems; upgrade traffic signals; install ADA curb ramps and replace and
relocate existing signage and pavement markings at varying intersections.

Beginning Monday, June 11, through Friday, June 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00
PM,
intermittent right lane closures are scheduled on eastbound Route 3 (West
Chester Pike) between Glen Avenue/Strasburg Road and Route 352 (Chester
Road)
in West Goshen, East Goshen and Westtown townships, Chester County.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area
because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather
dependent.

Kuharchik Construction, Inc. of Exeter, Pa., is the general contractor on
the
$1,882,300 improvement project which is financed with 50 percent state and
50
percent local funds. Construction on this improvement project is expected
to be
completed in summer of 2019.
