U.S. 1, U.S. 202 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Resurfacing Operations in Delaware County

​King of Prussia, PA – Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on several state highways, including U.S. 1 and U.S. 202, in Delaware County for resurfacing operations, as part of an improvement project to repair and resurface 28 miles of state highway in Delaware County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Brinton Lake Road and Cheyney Road in Concord Township for mechanized patching;
• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) between Concord Country Club Road and Dilworthtown Road in Chadds Ford Township for mechanized patching;
• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 291 (Price Street) between U.S. 13 (Post Road) and Booth Street in Trainer Borough and the City of Chester for milling, paving and utility adjustments;
• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 320 (Chester Road) between Baltimore Pike and Route 252 (Providence Road) in Springfield Township and Swarthmore Borough for milling, paving, and utility adjustments;
• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 320 (Sproul Road) between Chandler Lane and Highfield Road in Radnor Township for mechanized patching; and
• Sunday, June 2, through Friday, June 7, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Bishop Hollow Road between Ellis Avenue and Campus Boulevard/Stoney Brook Boulevard in Newtown Township for mechanized patching.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

• U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) between the Chester County line and the Montgomery County line in Haverford and Radnor townships;
• Route 320 (Chester Road/Providence Avenue) between Route 291 (4th Street) and Baltimore Pike in Springfield Township, Swarthmore Borough, and the City of Chester; 
• Route 320 (Sproul Road) between U.S. 1 and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Marple and Springfield townships;
• Route 352 (Middletown Road/New Middletown Road) from just north of Van Leer Avenue to just south of U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Middletown Township;
• Darby Road between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Haverford and Darby townships and Lansdowne Borough; and
• East Darby Road between Darby Road and Eagle Road in Haverford Township.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $6,766,666 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan. Work on the project is expected to be completed in December.
